Olympic Flame

We have received some reader feedback indicating U2 are to play at the Salt Lake City Olympic opening. One was from someone claiming security staff at Salt Lake City airport have been told U2 will be passing through the airport soon. Today we received the following message anonymously:

On February 10th at the Olympic Medals Plaza (MPL), Salt Lake City, the mystery act has yet to be publicly announced. Acts set to perform with Olympics in Salt Lake include Sting, Sheryl Crow, N-Sync, Dixie Chicks, etc.. The Organising Committee has announced last week publicly this last unannounced act will be a band and not solo. U2 is on the shortlist bet. Other details cannot be disclosed.

The sender (‘prefer not to disclose, blah blah’) includes two URLs to keep an eye on: “Please watch SLC2002.com and SLTribune.com for upcoming public announcement.”

It reeks of indefinable meat product.

  • they are passing thru primarily because they are playing a private gig in salt lake. i however am still hoping for a feb 10th appearance, but quite frankly after seeing them at the superbowl, they are just too big to play at some rinky dink medals concert. i hope they prove me wrong…
