  1. Interesting that “Until…” has a real video, but they are putting the live version on the DVD. Admittedly, it wasn’t that great of a video. In my continuing effort to quibble, I would have rather had the alternate U2.com edit of Beautiful Day and the alternate Lemon video over the Even Better remix, Numb remix, and Mofo remix vids. You can’t always get what you want…

  3. I’m confused, is this dvd included with the limited edition album or is it released apart from it???

  5. Why is so much of the content “hidden?” What a needless pain in the ass. Just make it all easily accessable to everyone already!

  7. I agree. DVD easter eggs are a complete waste of time. Also, these Best-Of releases are beginning to look like another huge waste of time. Nothing but previously released nonsense. Who cares about their damn videos, anyway? What about live footage? Early TV appearances from the seventies & eighties, etc., etc. Who makes these ridiculous decisions? Paul McGuinness?

  9. Ah… sucks that everyone can’t be pleased. Sucks too that this is only the band’s art and they can do anything they want with it.

  11. Easter eggs SUCK!!! U2 does not… I would love to have all their TV stuff too, but I’m equally pleased with this!!! I never got my hidden stuff off the Boston DVD either!!! Can somebody show me how???

  13. Im guessing that the hidden tracks are treated as extras… They seem to be the ones that weren’t played live often, not much radio play or video play… Kinda like the B-sides i guess, extras.

  15. only two of the three videos for one? hate to say it, but one more disappointment. why not just include all three? sigh. i hope the third version that’s on the dvd is the one (hah) with bono at the bar.

  17. Those hidden tracks could be behind “a secret code” ie. if you buy the real cd and DVD from the store, you’ll get a code which opens those pain in the asses! This belongs to that big war against piratism…my ass.

  19. Bands like Phish, Pearl Jam, & the Grateful Dead have, for years, been liberally releasing live audio & video material from their vaults. U2 has been a band for 26 years. They also have a vault. I’m sure this vault contains every show from ZOO TV, on audio & video; every show from Popmart; & every show from Elevation. Who knows what else they can dig up from the eighties and late seventies. It’s probably endless. I truly believe that nobody cares much about the promotional videos for their tunes, especially since they’re someone else’s interpretation of the song. What I’d like to know is why the vault remains shut. And will it ever be opened?

  21. I’m with Josh on this one (see 3 posts up)…I’d rather see/hear stuff that isn’t a rehash of what’s already out there…I’d take unfinished, emotional, powerful stuff like Doctor, Doctor from the AB outtakes over another remix of discotheque ontop of the 15 other remixes that already exist…

  23. The code thing seems unlikely. U2 doesn’t really seem to care about the piracy thing… oh well.

  25. PopMart from Mexico City has been rehashed as long as I can remember. With the Showtime broadcast, the video, the Propaganda cd, the extra tracks on the Beautiful Day singles. Whose brilliant idea was it to bank off of the Mexico City show for four straight years? I would imagine that the live version of “Gone” on the Best Of DVD is also from Mexico City. And “Until the End of the World” from Sydney ZOO TV, another constant rehash. I mean, have they seen the PopMart shows from South Africa or Chile? I mean come on! Or the indoor ZOO TV shows from Madison Sqaure Garden or Los Angeles? They’re in the vault. Release! Release! Release!

  27. I think we have to hold our breath on UTEOTW, the six minute video on u2.com, shows during the beutiful day snip, a clip from ZOOTV that IS NOT from the Sydney Video, you can tell, from the camera angle (which is a crane cam moving away from the satelite stage), and the stage, which has more trabants hanging from the railings, its possibly from the outside broadcast leg of the tour.

I think they’re saving the vault for years to come. Box sets, DVDs, CDs, the sky’s the limit.

I also dispise the fact that most of the stuff on it is hidden, my DVD freezes every time i try to play the bonocam elevation easter egg.

  29. Josh: Absolutely, the vault should open up and bare all. This is what I mean when I get narked off that the version of Streets from the Elevation video has also appeared as two b-sides. The “special” live fanclub CD Asta La Vista was just the soundtrack from the Popmart video. What a waste! I wanna hear a live version of Rejoice from 1981. Shall we start a riot?

  33. Lol. Yes, a riot is in order. Rejoice from 1981, huh? That’ll be in a boxed set when I’m 50. I also had fun buying thirty-eight versions of the Stuck in a Moment & Elevation singles, just to get my hands on some quality live material, rather than hear the Irving Plaza show or the Boston show transferred from disc to disc, dozens of times.

  35. I think there might be a hidden track in the DVD called, “Ben and Josh are a couple of whining bitches.” for the last time already, stop whining, don’t buy the DVD or the CD and shut up, shut up, shut up.

  39. So nice you had to post it twice. Thanks. Actually, the band should have a mail order only series called Ben & Josh’s Picks, whereby we raid the vaults and release whatever we see fit. You’d like that wouldn’t you?

  41. Oh boy….it’s just dissapointing the DVD has zo many hidden features in stead of “normal access”-footage..I mean, I just wanna play the DVD without having to go through so much trouble every time I wanna see the Eze-sur-Mer version of B-Day..I want the DVD-player to play the DVD without needing my help accessing the songs…We’re not whining, we’re fans with an opinion.I think If we could choose every die-hard fan would want U2 to release soooo much more live-material…Ahhhh..If only…I’d take a second job just to pay for the U2-stuff!!!!

  43. I need to see the RED HILL video before I die, and yes, there is a vault and I’ll bet when U2 are the Stones age, we will be let in to see it all… Until then, I’ll be content with this Best of and a new album!!! But I’ll be happy to join you guys in the whining bitch section anyway!!! I think it’s the place to be out of the whole internet!!! And Happy Birthday to Larry tomorrow!!! Do you think he’ll finally start looking 23???

  45. now everybody is clearing their heart. I like to see an end to all those remixes that appears on the singles. Give us REAL
    U2 songs and not all
    those cheap mixes.
    The New York mixes on
the ES single suck big time.Give us some
    real songs!!!

  51. oke, maybe some people
like the mixes, but I’m sure most fans would rather see songs
like spanish eyes and sweetest thing for b-side.
