U2 move about, no doubt

Adrian Young, drummer of No Doubt believes U2 picked up something from touring with them: “We pick up things from every band we see. I saw Kiss a few years ago, and you could pick up things from that. With U2, I think they picked up something from us too. Toward the end of the tour, their energy on stage was a little higher, and I think they moved around stage a little bit more than before. I think they looked at what we were doing and said, ‘Whoa! That looks like fun.’ ”

  1. Bono never ran a stage or jumped into a crowd…thanks, but I have little doubt, that U2 learned ANYTHING from Gwen and the crew of No Doubt

  5. Awww. If U2 had only toured with No Doubt from the very beginning–Elevation would have been so much better. 😉 Keep dreaming, No Doubt.

  7. The arrogance of these people. First Chris Martin, now Adrian Young…

    Ah, the state of youth.

  9. Saw No Doubt with U2 and to tell you the truth, Bono did jump around just a tad bit more then when I had seen him prior on the same tour. How could you not be influenced by the energy of Gwen. Now be nice, they actually are big fans of U2 and meant no disrespect.

  11. Of course they didn’t mean any disrespect. No Doubt ARE huge fans of U2 and watched every show in the audience after they performed. The drummer said “…Toward the end of the tour, their energy on stage was a LITTLE higher, and I think they moved around stage a LITTLE bit more than before.” Notice “Little”

  13. I agree- y’all be nice now. Youthful exuberance often comes across as hubris, doesn’t it? Remember, Bono used to say this sorta thing all the time- and he got flayed for it too, so there are precedents. Also, when I saw the show in 11/01, Gwen jumped off a monitor, causing it to fall (and needing 3 roadies to set it up again), which was lots of fun to see. Musta been like when White Flag Bono scaled the lofty heights of many theater scaffoldings. Some U2 fans are just a little too arrogant and elitist if you ask me…

  15. just because our boys are the greatest, biggest band in the world doesn’t mean they can’t pick things up and be influenced.

  17. The way these message-boards read is that a lot of you act as followers as a religion gone bad: unforgiving of other ideas and thoughts. Of course, in this case, U2 is the religion. Do some of you go on missionaries to convert other people to choose U2 as their favorite band?
    Example- which is more arrogant

  19. I’ve called Bono arrogant before, so I feel justified in calling that comment arrogant. Arrogance isn’t always bad, you know. And differences of opinions aren’t either.

  21. This is just so offensive. I can’t believe this guy has the nerve to say that U2’s energy was a little higher at the end of the tour because of No Doubt. Hogwash! The Elevation tour was boring start to finsish. Haha.

  25. A great band continues to be inspired by all things all the time. If U2 stopped being inspired by other artists after they hit the top, we’d have just had a million Joshua Tree albums. And if you can be inspired by music, why not performance. Adrian Young may well have a point.

  27. Adrian sounds like a twat to me. Bono moving around more?? He used to climb scaffolding! What about when he throws his peace signs into the air and shakes uncontrollably during UTEOTW’s opening riff(mirrorball style). No Doubt are utter shit, and their music is generally soul-less and without passion. Adrian should have said, “Whoa…An Arena gig…opening for U2…holy shit. So this is what it feels like to play in front of 20,000 ppl…who aren’t here to see us in the first place…I hope I’m sitting correctly on my drum stool just like Larry, Are my sticks being held right?…Goodness, im under so much duress I might puke, and this black lipstick itches”.

  29. To the U2=religion person: The reason Bono can be arrogant about being in the best band in the world is because he is. Arrogance has to be earned, or it is mere stupidity.

And if you’ve ever seen an interview it is obvious that the drummer from No Doubt is a very stupid person. And you don’t need a ridiculous quote to know that (though we got one).
