  1. Uh, why is it called “The Rest of 1980 – 1990”, but includes material far after that time period??? Hmmmm, sounds like a fake to me.

  3. I assume that they mean 1980-2000 because half of these songs originate from their albums released during 1991-2000. Even so, this lineup seems a bit unlikely. Are you telling me that songs like Walk On, TGBHF, & Stay are not good enough to be on either the “Best Of” OR the “Rest Of”? Hardly. Seems like a preliminary list. That or it might be totally made up.

  5. No…. Walk on is from 2000’s “All That You Can’t Leave Behind”. U2 didn’t release a studio album in 2001. U2 hasn’t released a studio album since the Oct 2000. That’ll make for a huge gap between ATYCLB and the new 2004 album. You’re mistaken because Walk On was released as a single (import) until Dec 2001.

  7. No way is this true….next you’ll be telling me that Bono’s done a duet with J-Lo!

  9. Sounds to me like some kinda of promo sampler of past tracks Universal Brazil is gonna release in advance of the new album, kinda like previous promos like Previously… and U2 2 Date – something like that.

  11. No 11 Tick Tock – Electric Co. – Running To Stand Stand Still – One Tree Hill – Bullet The Blue Sky – Lemon. It’s gotta be hoax.

  13. They already released a promo in Mexico called “The Rest of Remixes 1990-2000”. The track list is as follows:

Tracks: The Lounge Fly Mix / Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses (The Temple Bar Remix) / Stay (Underdog Mix) / Bottoms (Zoo Station Remix) / Mofo (Mother’s Mix) / Beautiful Day (Quincey & Sonance Remix – Radio edit) / Elevation (Quincey & Sonance Remix)

  15. I think that this is a load of BS. It would have no mass appeal, other than to hardcore U2 fans, and for as many as there are, there can’t be enough to warrant this kind of release. A new mix of “Fire”? I doubt that the band would even bother to go back that far to remix something. And no “Two Hearts Beat As One”, “Bullet The Blue Sky” or “Elevation”? Ghe band doesn’t even play most of these live anymore, so what appeal would they have to a mass audience? I am sorry, but this just screams, “Hoax!”

  17. My guess is that it would be a promo only release made in conjunction with some retail outfit like the Bestbuy promo or The Rest of Remixes made with Palacio de Hierro. Or it could be a super limited commercial release like the Target 7 cd from last year. They are not always looking for “mass appeal” with these things.

  19. I don’t believe it…

Why on earth would U2 want to remix Fire, Acrobat and Wake Up Dead Man??

  21. Being a long time brazilian fan, I subscribe several local U2 mailing lists. If these news were true it

  23. The information came to us via e-mail, one of these “my friend works for Universal” type e-mails. So yes, it’s probably bollocks.

  25. No Zooropa tracks. It goes from AB to Passengers. Of course I’ll believe this album when I see it.

  27. Walk On and Elevation were on ATYCLB …and that was released in 2000. However.. they were realesed as SINGLES in 2001. That is the key here folks. That’s why they are not on Best 1990-2000, or this Rest Of compilation. One day..when U2 Best Of 2000-2010 is realesed, Walk On and Elevation will surface again.

  29. What a load of BS! There’s no way this is true. Oh and another thing… why is it that Mexico gets the promo stuff? What about the fans in the US?

  31. Well, it would fulfill their contractual obligation without having to release albums through 2010 and releasing a Best of 2000-2010. And Bono did say the band is ready to kick him out. And lately, for Bono, doesn’t U2 seem like an afterthought in the wake of AIDS, Iraqi refugees, etc.? Anyone see the final episode of 6 feet under tonight?

  33. Okay, Beautiful Day was released as a single in October 2000, but Stuck In A Moment was released as a single in January 2001. Still, it was released on the Best Of 1990-2000. So, little hope for Walk On or Elevation in a next best of album.
Love the tracklist for The Rest Of album (finally, Please!) but I, like you, think it’s going to be a promo. If it ever sees the light of day…
