Bono sings like a girl
“Some male and female singers have exactly the same voice, just shifted in pitch.” DJ Danny Baker coined the phrase the “Seven Percent Solution” for the phenomenon as described by Brunel University engineer and designer Dan Lockton.

I’ve always maintained that Bono sings like a girl because I can’t sing most of U2′s stuff, except for some of the more recent stuff. Most of the songs are way too high for me to sing and I’m a girl that sings like a guy, can’t sing with girls most of the time.

On the roadkill thing, a lot of these were rumored ATYCLB titles, and tough/sometimes you can’t make it on your own is supposedly the same song. I also find it odd that American Prayer is on an actual album as it is co-written. I’d take it with a grain of salt.

For what it’s worth, I’m the paige who usually posts here — I did not post that roadkill thing. Does it seem highhanded for me to ask that paige to add another initial or something to distinguish her posts from mine, in case she says something horribly stupid for which I get pinned, or something terribly brilliant for which I get credit, or vice versa?? Carl, I take that with not only a grain of salt, but the entire Margherita!

Roadkill stuff’s a load of toss. I think it’s Sometimes you CAN make it on your own, the last I heard someone talk about it. Three other titles I’ve heard are missing from this list.

@vonb You might have misheard that, I think it is “can’t”.. it fits in with a published title/verse a while back: http://www.u2wanderer.org/disco/novx00_1.php I’ll take your word for it that the “someone” you’ve heard other conflicting titles from is more informed than whomever posted the linked to tracklist.

Some 7% clips sound better than others, but they don’t sound like real female singers to me, sounds like chipmunkish male singers. It would be more interesting if they tried to categorize singers tenor’s sound more femalish than bari’s/bass’s sped up etc. Someone should speed up lemon just to be perverse.

LOL, Lucy! The simplest solution, really, would be for Adam to propose — this way, I’d sign as “Mrs. Clayton,” you would all know it was really me and a real-live, gen-u-wine U2 wife coming to you, and Adam and I could save money by having Bono the Girl as both Best Man and Maid of Honor!

This whole 7% thing is nothing new. My old Soundblaster soundcard in my old PI 100 MHz pc could already do that trick. You could plug in a mic and press the “male to female” button and then it would pitch the sound about 7%. This guy cannot claim that he discovered something, because first of all, the samples sound like chipmunks rather than women and second of all, it has been done so many times before…
