Lisbon: Estádio José De Alvalade

Live coverage continued from previous entry: The concert kicks off with the standard 5 songs. During Electric Co, Bono pulls a life size cardboard image of himself from the audience. He kisses and cuddles it and then lets go of it.

Before I still haven’t found, Bono thanks the Portuguese president for the Order of Liberty given to the band a few hours before the show, and he quips the band has now become Portuguese.

Setlist: Vertigo / I Will Follow / Electric Co / Elevation / New Year's Day / Beautiful Day / I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For / City of Blinding Lights / Miracle Drug / Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own / Love and Peace or Else / Sunday Bloody Sunday / Bullet the Blue Sky / Miss Sarajevo / Pride (In The Name Of Love) / Where the Streets Have No Name / One / Encore: Zoo Station / The Fly / With or Without You / All Because Of You / Yahweh / 40

… and that completes the votes of the Zooropean jury. Sgt Pepper’s Only One Set Band will continue across the big pond…

  9. Here at U2log we’re actually hoping the monster has 5 legs, or maybe even 6. Plenty for everyone ;-]

  11. If Bono keeps his promise, there will be at least 4 legs, with show(s) in Mexico (remember the opening date). Is australasia confirmed yet? Because that would make 6…

Anyway, how about at least 4 legs, a live dvd during leg three, and a new album with HTDAAB leftovers right after the end of the tour?

  13. If we take everything Bono says as truth, we’re looking at 6 legs. US, EU, US, Australasia, EU and then South America. There’s even been talk about a third US leg, so that would make it a seven legged monster.

Whether to believe it or not? Who knows. Personally, I’m fairly confident about the Australasian leg and the second EU leg, based on rumours, papers and things various people have said.

Rumours for South America certainly seem to be getting stronger too…

I’m inclined to say that where there’s smoke…

  15. Also, interesting tease from u2.com just now:

“The band performed their final European date for 2005 tonight”

Now why would they add “2005” to that?

  17. why would anyone even complain about the setlists when its the first and only date in portugal this year? half the people wont have even seen the show before yesterday

Because if they didn’t, it would read that the band are never going to play Europe again…

  21. Well, they could have said their final European date of the Vertigo tour…but they didn’t. However, dunno if I would read much into that anyway, u2.com is not noted for the clarity of their writing…

That said, I’m so there if they hit Latin America or Europe in 2006 (that is if they don’t return to the US after that; I doubt that they will).
