  1. Well, not 8 weeks as reported here. And if Carter Alan in Boston meant Hawaii when he said “expect U.S. stadium dates,” then he was just teasing us all. Any hope for the other 3 weeks to show up in the continental U.S.? Looks doubtful.

  3. Why is the info on ETS in a U2.com-members only news section? Not all ETS customers are U2.com members. The article needs to be public.

  5. This is what the article says:

“ETS Travel Packages and Vertigo ‘06
Some of you may have heard that ETS has recently ceased trading.

This is unfortunate news, but we can assure U2 fans who are affected by this that TNA and The Vertigo Tour will step in to honour the obligations made by ETS in relation to the newly revised Vertigo 2006 tour dates.

Arthur Fogel, speaking on behalf of TNA, told U2.Com: “While this is sad news, we hope to avoid disruption to U2 fans, and ETS’s previous commitments to parties, tickets and accommodation will be covered”

TNA are in possession of a list of all U2 fans affected by the closure of ETS and will be contacting those people directly.

Please email etsorders@tnadventure.com to see if you are on the list and someone from TNA will come back to you asap.”

  7. I stand corrected.

Japan is the one that looks tempting to me too, but next year is Bowie year (I just know it), so I’ll hold out for that 🙂

  9. Just to throw in a conspiracy theory… does this strike anyone as odd?

Three days between Brisbane and Sydney.

Five days between Sydney and Adelaide.

Five days between Melbourne and Auckland.

Four days lay over between second Tokyo date and third?

Another five days to shift everything to Hawaii?

As far as I know tour personnel gets paid during the days in between which would mean a lot of extra cost for just a couple of dates. I can’t really see U2 doing that, unless they’re preferring extra cost over extra work load or being able to pop back to Dublin once in a while (though that sounds close to undoable)

  13. I am! Just not really an option for me right now… And god, don’t you start…. My friend’s been trying to talk me into Oz for a good half year now 😉

Nevermind that I don’t like flying such long distances… It kind of makes me die a little

  15. If that was the case, I would have had a lot of dead passengers by now. So far I only had one guy dying on me during a flight. Come on, it’s not that bad! A lot of people give in to their insane urge to go blasting through the skies for hours in a pressurized metal tube! It’s fun fun fun! (No, I know it’s hell on earth, but I’m trying to make a living here, ok?)

  19. You haven’t convinced me yet flygirl 😉

And to fling this back on topic… It’s one of the possible plausible explanations. Can think of a few others, but more dates is one of them (fliexibilty, avoiding mental breakdown, holidaying or spending time with family in between shos are some of the others).

  21. I’m gonna bet no on another Hawaii – it wasn’t sold out before postponement, stadium configuration for the show is changing from baseball to football and its capacity for a show increased from around 35K to around 45-50K. All that, plus returns, means they will have approx. 10,000+ tickets to sell when they go back on sale. Pearl Jam’s presence WILL enable them to sell out the 9th, but I highly doubt they have the market to sell another 45K in tix for a second show, especially in the holiday run-up…
