  1. This is a train wreck version of this song. It just did not work for me. Too light and feel good. The theme of the song is being lost and confused in your place. This sappy version left me feeling that I was about to see an American 80s sitcom after the poppy, feel good start.

  3. why do people feel the need to trash up a great song in front of millions of people? people need to stop this, unless they enjoy sounding like complete morons.

  5. ‘s Funny that everybody hates it. It’s the same arrangement that British R&B artist Lemar used last year when he covered it on the Jo Whiley show, and lots of people loved it then.

I can’t stand the original and like the way this arrangement deconstructs it and shows me there *is* a song underneath the U2-we-need-to-have-a-chart-hit bullshit.

Plus the kid’s got a good voice.

  7. I wouldn’t call having U2’s tracks in the charts “the U2-we-need-to-have-a-chart-hit bullshit.” I’d call that continuing to “fuck up the charts”

  9. “Can’t stand the original”?

Oh, Caroline! Don’t you remember the first time you heard it? “Turn it up loud, Captain!” U2 having fun and rocking out….it’s still pure bliss for me, though I can understand it being worn out for some people… the song was EVERYWHERE on TV and radio (I consider that a good thing). It knocked my socks off as much as “The Fly”….

This version’s not too bad, I like the feel, but that New Orleans version with the Edge was better. The song was meant to rock…..the fact that it sounds good like this just shows how deep it is once you scratch the surface. Catorce!
