U2 personal show charts calculator

Oh, the wonders of technology. U2-vertigo-tour.com have created an application that lists the shows you’ve seen and which U2 songs you have heard live: check out their personal show charts calculator. I was surprised to learn that with 50 shows under my belt, I’ve been subjected to Pride ‘only’ 45 times. Funny, it feels like more than that…

  • Very cool! My memory is failing though, I would have to go through old diaries to check the exact dates. Just out of the top of my head, I went to 37 shows. Shame this thing doesn’t calculate the amount of money spent on tickets, plane- and trainfares, hotels, merchandise, crappy food and warm beer. Hmm, come to think of it, I probably don’t want to know…

  • My Pride tally is 44 as well…however One beats them all for me, with 49 times live out of 53 performances attended (46 of those proper tour shows – of which I have gotten Streets and Bullet at every one…).

  • Thank you! I’ve always wondered exactly which songs and how many times, but not enough to do this “by hand”….what a great resource.

  • Oh how I loved doing this!
    my stats
25 shows (to the best of my recollection)
choice cuts: Maggie’s Farm/Out of Control/Stand By Me/The Fly/Stay (so faraway, so close!)

Topping my hit parade: Bullet in the Blue Sky. Funny, I hated this song in 1987, now it’s one of my faves. I guess the band must know this because they play it every single time I go to see them.

  • saw U2 9 times and have heard Bullet every time. Sucks as I don’t like the song. Choice cuts for me are 11 O’Clock tick tock in Chicago on the elevation tour and One Tree Hill on the lovetown tour in Dublin.

  • My absolute favourite set opener was Hawkmoon 269 in Amsterdam on the Lovetown tour. I don’t know why but it was mind blowing, even if we’d heard it on bootleg tapes and that Aussie video before.

  • Yes! That was one of the most memorable shows I ever went to; Hawkmoon as the opener, the strange atmosphere and Bono’s frustrated rage after losing his voice.

  • Oh here we go…
I don’t think I want to admit this but I’ve only seen them something like 43 times if my memory serves me right (and that’s a big if!) Stats: Pride 43 times; Bullet, Found, Streets etc 42 times; 11 different cover songs. But have I really only heard Sunday Bloody Sunday live once?!? Auld Lang Syne was absolutely the best… Guess where I was ;-)

  • You’ve got to be kidding me ‘Do I Need a Name?’ I’ve seen them more times now than you have?

Auld Lang Syne was good. I also remember the very, very brief ‘Life is a cabaret’ snippet from that show, with B. spread eagled, one arm aloft, on a monitor stage left.

  • We’ve just made some changes on the show charts calculator. It now includes details for opening and closing songs as well so tacoma can see that one show opening with Until instantly ;)
You can also bookmark your results to share the link or come back later.
If we add more details later you’ll also benefit from them if you open your bookmarked show set.

  • This is very 2.0 Matt. Well done. I was wondering if you could set it up so each person could create profile with their shows on. And then you could see “other people who were at this show”. There’s probably tonnes more features you could do with the data set. You could additionally let people say whereabouts they were placed at a particular show – perhaps just in general terms like “Stands – Adam side” “Mix desk area” “Heart” etc. It would be a nice way of people recording their memories… Anybody else got any cool 2.0 builds they can think of?

We think that's likely due to the band […]

  • The Resource Miracle May 22, 2012
[Note: This essay appeared in the May 28, 2012, edition of TIME magazine.] It's become the go-to cliché of modern economics. Natural resources are a "curse." When a nation is over-reliant on one or two commodities like oil or precious minerals, corrupt government ministers and their dodgy associates hoard profits and taxes instead of properly […]

It looks like Bono’s contribution was recorded within the past week, but that’s just a guess. [...]This is a post from the @U2 blog.Bono Pays […]
