I agree Bernhard! I didn't like Pop when I first heard it because I did not care for techno/dub music at the time. Then I gave it another listen after becoming a fan of techno, and all of a sudden it was my favorite U2 album! Like I said earlier in the discussion on worst lyrics, all of U2's past albums get better with age for me, because I'm always finding something new in the lyrics or the music every time I listen. Pop is the least dated sounding album in my opinion, maybe because it was ahead of it's time. I also scratch my head when the band acts embarassed about the album since they were so proud of it when it came out. I wonder if they actually feel that way or if they are trying to make peace with the critics that still refer to it as their "biggest mistake" or whatever.

that at least earns good old POP a black velvet from my side. amazing that ten years after its release, the record is still so poorly received. problem is the band themselves even seem not to like it that much after all. when will POP get some recognition of the greatest rock/pop/dub records of the 90's?

boys, shove all those rather poor re-mixes and stick to the phat of that record. POP was in its time as much as AB (flame me now), and has lost nothing of its sonic appeal and relevance after a decade.

maybe rediscover its greatness in the course of making the new record.
