- Like a Song: Gone February 8, 2012[Ed. note: This is the 64th in a series of personal essays by the @U2 staff about songs and/or albums that have had great meaning or impact in our lives.] I like the Pop album. I want one of Edge’s magic shapeshifting guitars!

Such a spirit of Irish music in memory of Ronnie Drew. B’s voice sounds good, and blends well with Shane McGowan’s. Good to sea Sinead — haven’t seen her in awhile. And The Dubliners are excellent as usual.

I think Bono performance is embarrassing…why can’t he take a step back…he’s there with a bunch of other musicians, great ones, and what’s he doing? Trying to steal the show.
Hey B-Man, shut up when others are singing!

The song didn’t grab me at first, but it’s been stuck in my head for days now. I wonder if a bit of Irish fiddle will work its way into U2′s hand-held traditional world ethnic beat techno trance?

Don’t be silly. YOu think all these other musicians didn’t expect this? YOu think he was any less enthusiastic during rehearsals? I can agree that the others are GREAT too, but Bono provides the “punch” wherever he goes – and that’s nothing to be embarrassed about.

I think the others are glad Bono’s the centre of attention and the cameras aren’t in their faces.

Outstanding across the board.
