- U2 Fan Survey 2012: Third Set of Results Available May 23, 2012The third set of results from the 2012 U2 Fan Survey is now available, and it takes us through your votes on U2's albums and songs. As a reminder, the survey was open from April 5th through April 30th. We received completed responses from 3,530 fans in 79 countries this year, both of which are down from 2010. We think that's likely due to the band […]
- A Look at My U2 Framed Album Cover Wall (PHOTOS) May 22, 2012How would you like to have a wall in your house covered with perfectly framed U2 album cover art? You could just have your favorite U2 albums on the wall or, like me, you could go all the way and put every U2 album on display in order — like this: That’s one of the [...]This is a post from the @U2 blog.A Look at My U2 Framed Album Cover Wall (PHOTOS) […]
- The Resource Miracle May 22, 2012[Note: This essay appeared in the May 28, 2012, edition of TIME magazine.] It's become the go-to cliché of modern economics. Natural resources are a "curse." When a nation is over-reliant on one or two commodities like oil or precious minerals, corrupt government ministers and their dodgy associates hoard profits and taxes instead of properly […]
- Bono Pays One More Tribute to Steve Jobs May 22, 2012Bono made an appearance via video tonight at the Webby Awards, contributing to a tribute to Steve Jobs. A host of tech legends and celebrities each paid tribute to Jobs in five words or less, a Webby Awards tradition. It looks like Bono’s contribution was recorded within the past week, but that’s just a guess. [...]This is a post from the @U2 blog.Bono Pays […]

Is it true the single will be available on iTunes after Fanning premiers it tomorrow?
It’s on the USA iTunes store, but not on the Dutch one. Don’t know about ROW

PS: the lyrics for Get On Your Boots remind of the story behind Miss Sarajevo, how the models organised a beauty pageant in the middle of the siege and held placards like, “Do you really want to kill me?” The lyrics (the few I’ve heard) give me a real sense of this mischief — but like a lot of Bono’s lyrics, the door to ambiguity is thrown wide open. But don’t leave your boots at the door, wear them in — sexy boots for love, not soldier’s boots for war.

Loving it the more I listen. “Let me in the song” with Larry’s driving beat is the best part. So many influences in this song — Queen, the Who, Led Zeppelin — and a big dose of Hold Me Thrill Me. 1970s peace and love rock ‘n’ roll at its best.

Why on earth can’t they sync that Itunes store shit around the globe…
I’ve got heaps of cash piling up around here that I want to spend on pre-orders, exclusives, boxsets, digipacks, magazine formats, limited editions, digital downloads, and what else…

I’ve been trying all morning, but all I get is: Audio will load shortly. Firefox or IE7, same thing. Does anyone recognize this? Any other link to listen to the song?
Well, I reckon it won’t be there long, but...

First listen impression: I like the music. Even though there’s some classic rock influences (Zeppelin, Queen) … it also sounded a bit like “Get Free” by The Vines, which is a great song.
Lyrically: Pretty solid, too. Although another song with “beautiful” in the lyric makes me feel like Bono’s scooping from the same well too often.
But I am excited at the energy. Can’t wait to hear more new stuff.

I’m glad that I could download the single from iTunes today because the stream via 2FM sounded like someone hollering into a tin can. Streaming radio really isn’t the right way to make an impressive song introduction.
Now that I’ve listened to a proper recording of the song, I can say, “ME LIKEY!”

Yep, it will be a #1 for the boys!
Vertigo should have gone to #1 but the dig downloads didn’t count back then so now…#1 baby!
Certainly hear Queen and the Beatles and Elvis C…
have to admit, also hear the Escape Club’s Wild Wild West…cringe-
The layers are incredible and it makes me wonder if this was ‘spawned’ from Fast Cars…

The quality of the RTE stream really sucks. 3FM was much better, but I screwed up recording it. Can’t buy from iTunes. Glad to have just now found a spanking fresh CD-r rip, so I can finally hear it properly.
My 30-year old hifi set blew up in a mains surge. Don’t really want to spend $$ on a new one, but I don’t know if I like it if that means I’m only going to hear the new album through my PC-speakers.

@Jono, Oh god, I was thinking exactly the same thing about the Escape Club’s Wild Wild West! Top ten hit for weeks here in Oz, oh the memories, I love her eyes and her wild wild hair… thank god Bono didn’t do a skat rap in the middle of GOYB!

I would have to agree with Jono’s comments about Fast Cars. Without even going back to listen to Fast Cars – that’s the first song that came to mind when I heard Larry’s drums and Bono singing the uptempo lyrics.
Looking forward to hearing Adam play that amazing sounding bass section throughout the song.

I don’t hear Fast Cars at all, I hear Hold Me Thrill me as a big influence.

I am somewhat disappointed. Been a fan since 1984 and I think U2′s always been “an record band”, not a great singles band. For me, this is the third dud after Beautiful day and Discotheque. Hope the NLOH is good, though
