Get On Your Boots video premiere delayed

Update: Universal has issued a statement:

“The video is going really well but unfortunately it just wasn’t finished in time for the premiere today. Alex Courtes is an amazing director and we can assure you that it will be well worth the wait.” Mark Crossingham, Managing Director Universal Music Ireland

The Get On Your Boots video premiere has been delayed for reasons as yet unknown. The Independent.ie, where the video was supposed to start streaming at 4.55pm, writes:

3.10 pm
Delivery of the video for U2′s new single, ‘Get on Your Boots’, has been delayed.
We are waiting for a new premiere date from the band and their record company.
More details will follow.

In the meantime, an unfinished copy of the video was leaked and can now be found on various video sharing sites, forums and p2p networks. Still images are doing the round as well. In some of these stills, the Getty Images watermark is still visible. It’s possible not all images had been cleared with the copyright owners yet, causing the delay.

U2log.com has removed two posts linking to a blog which made mention of an alleged second version of the video. Stills from this version were also circulating, but are now taken down from most sites hosting them.

There’s no such thing as bad publicity.

  • Not the usual U2 video – kind of suprises me. I do like the song and the video is definetly on the creative side. I like the bright colors and the constant action. Years ago I stopped trying to interpret music videos. The relationship between the song and the visual effects is generally zero to me. This new U2 video stimulates the senses and if that is what they were trying to achieve then I think they did it!

  • Not as interesting as i would have liked, but agree with pearls in that stimulates the visual senses. Kind of reminds me of the Even Better Than The Real Thing video. However i wonder if people will notice the ‘with or with out you’ nipple slip about 59-60 seconds into the video. Although a half nipple, wonder if they got delayed over that :)

  • Great video, I love the band in front of the giant woman with her legs… well, spread, I can’t think of any other way to put it.

Nice to see a female nipple has once again sent men and women wearing suits into fits of panic. Get on your boots!

  • I absolutely love this video. Even if it reminds me of the I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’ clip.

  • I think it’s their best video in bloody ages. Hope the second one gets released too.

The third set of results from the 2012 U2 Fan Survey is now available, and it takes us through your votes on U2's albums and songs. As a reminder, the survey was open from April 5th through April 30th. We received completed responses from 3,530 fans in 79 countries this year, both of which are down from 2010. We think that's likely due to the band […]

  • The Resource Miracle May 22, 2012
[Note: This essay appeared in the May 28, 2012, edition of TIME magazine.] It's become the go-to cliché of modern economics. Natural resources are a "curse." When a nation is over-reliant on one or two commodities like oil or precious minerals, corrupt government ministers and their dodgy associates hoard profits and taxes instead of properly […]

It looks like Bono’s contribution was recorded within the past week, but that’s just a guess. [...]This is a post from the @U2 blog.Bono Pays […]
