Walmart posts previews of U2′s No Line on the Horizon

We got the heads up from U2tour.de via Twitter: Walmart online has posted previews of all the tracks on No Line on the Horizon.

Update 02/08: Walmart has taken down all the previews, except ‘Boots’.

It’s always hard to tell from random 30-second clips, but early favourites for me are: the title track, Moment of Surrender, Cedars of Lebanon and Fez-Being Born. YMMV.

What are you waiting for? Have a listen and let us know what you think.

  • Fez-Being Born sounds really interesting.

I guess if I had to sum it up, I’d say this is shaping to be what I hoped the second record after Pop would have sounded like…

  • The intro to Fez-Being Born (I guess that would be ‘Fez’ then) reminds me of the 80′s b-sides, Walk to the Water, etc, which I’ve always liked so much.

‘White as Snow’ sounds like it’s this album’s ‘Grace’. Though maybe not THAT bad. :P
I never ‘believe’ U2 that much when they do the Irish ballad-thing.

It sounds more introspective than I thought it would be – which is good news for me, since I like ‘em that way. It’s not everybody’s cup of tea, though.

  • Wow !!! I think they have definitely got a much better groove on this album and I love Adam’s bass. I agree with one music reviewer’s description that it has more soul. I feel that too just from the music. No Line on the Horizon, Magnificent, Momement of Surrender, Unknown Caller, Breathe are early favs but I think as usual I will like all of them. Cannot wait now until I hear the music live….. many months from now! I like the idea of these 30 second clips in some ways – but my curiosity is now in full throttle and I want the entire album and have to wait almost a month! Is that possible? Now I have to be content – but not happy – with 30 seconds. Maybe this is 21st century fan torture….. I will be interested to hear what other fans say about the songs. I like the fact that U2 is willing to experiment in new directions and have always appreciated the different sides of U2. (This fan does not need song repetition. I can always go ack to previous albums for favorite songs) I give this album 5 out of 5 stars based on these intro clips!

  • so for now, WOW!!
i hope that Magnificent isn’t the next single-(at least after hearing 30 secs of it!)
Breathe is nice, But Stand Up Comedy is HOT and funky!

only negative right now, i’m feeling a little ‘passengery’-

    Influence noticed, imo-
Beatles, Dylan, Zep, Marley, Clash and of course anytime the B man goes low and delivers more spoken words…Lou Reed and Johnny Cash-

  • snippets are down again at the moment of writing.

sounds all very promising me thinks, hard to make any serious comments from 30 sec. snippets, as we know the songs will be full of contrasts.

The third set of results from the 2012 U2 Fan Survey is now available, and it takes us through your votes on U2's albums and songs. As a reminder, the survey was open from April 5th through April 30th. We received completed responses from 3,530 fans in 79 countries this year, both of which are down from 2010. We think that's likely due to the band […]

  • The Resource Miracle May 22, 2012
[Note: This essay appeared in the May 28, 2012, edition of TIME magazine.] It's become the go-to cliché of modern economics. Natural resources are a "curse." When a nation is over-reliant on one or two commodities like oil or precious minerals, corrupt government ministers and their dodgy associates hoard profits and taxes instead of properly […]
