U2 Goes Crazy on Third Day of Letterman Week
The fifth track off of No Line on the Horizon album, “I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight”, is played live for the first time on the David Letterman show Wednesday night. This is the third night of U2′s week long appearance on the Letterman show.
Bono, The Edge, Larry and Adam also took part in show’s tradition of a Top Ten list. Tonight’s list was “Things U2 Have Learned Over the Years”. The highlight was The Edge’s handling of one of his Top Ten items.
Edge’s line was “Cool Name: The Edge; Uncool Name: The Itch”. Instead, The Edge substituted uncool name “The Itch” for “Sting”.

- Like a Song: Gone February 8, 2012[Ed. note: This is the 64th in a series of personal essays by the @U2 staff about songs and/or albums that have had great meaning or impact in our lives.] I like the Pop album. There, I said it. I know I’m in the minority, but I think it’s a solid record that has been underrated ever since its release 15 years ago. It’s not a perfect album, […]

In a Pyschology Today blog post titled Authentic Love, Kierkegaard and U2, the concept of losing love to find romance is explored. In the song “A Man and a Woman” from the album How to [...]This is a post from the @U2 blog. The Etern […]

I’m sure we’ve all noticed this, but I’ve never seen Letterman crowds react this way for musical performances. And “I’ll Go Crazy” sounds great live and it’s my highlight of the week so far. Do we think the title track will be played tomorrow? Or perhaps “Standup Comedy”?

WOW, they absolutely nailed Crazy on its first outing, what a blinding performance. Bono was supremely confident on vocals and its worth bearing in mind this song covers quite a vocal range. Very impressed. Good on ya gang for playing ball with the top 10 list too, Bono seemed pretty shocked when Edge said Sting lol.

I hated this song, but a funny thing’s going on — it’s growing on me, and I loved it live. The “baby baby” bit could have been used a bit more, and I was expecting Bono to do the Riverdance when Edge did his guitar solo jig (c’mon Bono, I know you’re reading this, and you -know- you want to do it!). I can see the Corrs getting up on stage in Dublin to add some Irish magic to this song next tour.

My 5 yo little girl, Meghan, picked this song from the first listen as the best song on the album…she may be proven right!
Isn’t it amazing with them, the live version of ANY of their songs, can change the feel and even your own opinion of it-
Bono sounded fantastic, band was tight and yeah, 100% heard the Coors influence the first time I heard it!
Can’t wait to go crazy with this live!

…we know they do Boots on Friday night (since it was taped on Monday), but for tonight’s performance let’s hope they do either
1) Unknown Caller… (I can see the chanting chorus going over very well live)
2) title track… NLOTH

Wow! Great song. Bono in fine vocal form. Songs really coming into their own live.

I reckon the “Corrs influence” has more of a Big Country feel.

The Corrs won’t be available for a while — Andrea is doing “Dancing at Lughnasa” in the West End.

This song sounds sooo much better live! I think it is the weakest song on the cd, but just as I suspected it sounds great live. I just can’t hear the cd enough. I sincerely hope they PLAY EVERY NEW SONG LIVE in concert. Each song is strong enough to be included and the energy they would bring to them live would be phenominal! CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THEM IN THE SUMMER!!!
