What a wonderful and powerful song. It hit me like spear in the chest the first time I heard it on SNL in 1992.
With all due respect to the man in the shades (and, ironically, the only one filmed indoors), I’d rather have seen another from his country sing those lines:

Like an angel with a slingshot, Sinead O’Connor’s voice is the only rival to the Edge’s guitar as Ireland’s most important natural resource.
