U2′s surprise performance at Island Records 50th Anniversary Gig
U2 turned up unexpectedly at the Island Records 50th Anniversary Gig in O2 Shepherds Bush Empire London on Thursday night. Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) was the headliner. The band joined support act Baaba Maal as they covered “One”, followed up with an accoustic ‘Vertigo’ (see video) and introduced Cat Stevens to the crowd.

Unlike Magnificent on the Late-Late Show, U2 are actually playing this song live. Can’t say I’m a big fan of Larry on the bongos, and I have a fear that he’s going to have a bongo solo on the upcoming tour (Desire, perhaps?). That pains me. Oh, and why was U2 not the headliner at the Island Records party? Cat Stevens? Seriously?
