Absolutely spectacular! This show will have to be seen from many different seating areas to really be appreciated! Standing in GA at the front of the ellipse will be a totally different show than sitting in the stadium seats! I think any seat will be wonderful! Next week for me – 2nd show Milano – I will be seated. However, I will be front row in Chicago!

Okay – save for a few obligatory opening show jitters – I think this has the potential to be better than Zoo TV or PopMart – and for all the cringing about wearing masks etc. I think credit has to go to the band for their willingness to push the boundaries once again with their live show. As for last nights performance itself – no surprises for those who were following the rehearsals (expect drowning man tomorrow then yes?) but lets also remember U2 are mere mortals, and human beings make mistakes – there is a lot to look forward to.. I’m sure there will be a few changes in the set list, and no doubt they’ve already identified some songs that just aren’t meant for stadiums or that the crowd weren’t getting into. Applause for the remix version of crazy tonight – more of that please lads! and hopefully the occasional stuff up doesn’t put them off continuing with ultraviolet, unforgettable fire etc. Cheers to the tour ya’ll

the reoccurring thought I had while watching the videos, “Okay. What am I looking at here?”
Mission accomplished, Willie!
If you can blow out minds though YouTube, I can’t imagine what you doing to us in the flesh!

[Ed. note: This is the 64th in a series of personal essays by the @U2 staff about songs and/or albums that have had great meaning or impact in our lives.] I like the Pop album. There, I said it. I know I’m in the minority, but I think it’s a solid record that has been underrated ever since its release 15 years ago. It’s not a perfect album, […]
