U2 Goes Crazy on Third Day of Letterman Week

Bono, The Edge, Larry and Adam also took part in show’s tradition of a Top Ten list. Tonight’s list was “Things U2 Have Learned Over the Years”. The highlight was The Edge’s handling of one of his Top Ten items.

Edge’s line was “Cool Name: The Edge; Uncool Name: The Itch”. Instead, The Edge substituted uncool name “The Itch” for “Sting”.

U2 performed fan favorite (according to our poll anyway) of Magnificent on their second day of five on the David Letterman show. (Alternative video) Bono wished drum tech Sam O’Sullivan a happy birthday at the end of the song. Letterman exclaimed: “I can feel that right in my chest!”

  • The Resource Miracle May 22, 2012
[Note: This essay appeared in the May 28, 2012, edition of TIME magazine.] It's become the go-to cliché of modern economics. Natural resources are a "curse." When a nation is over-reliant on one or two commodities like oil or precious minerals, corrupt government ministers and their dodgy associates hoard profits and taxes instead of properly […]
