NME dismantles U2 album title
If you hadn’t sussed it from our lucky guesses and then (frankly rather tiresome) subtle hints over the last couple of months, you can now read it ‘exclusively’ at the NME website: U2 have named their upcoming album ‘How to dismantle an atomic bomb‘. And if that doesn’t convince you, U2.com say the same.
Just HOW does one dismantle an atomic bomb, anyway?
Why, with love and peace, naturally. Or else.
Also from the NME comes the news that U2 are on the 2005 ballot for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame; it’s their first year eligible. Of course, the NME apparently finds it more newsworthy that The Sex Pistols are on the ballot again, despite having been nominated and having missed the cut two previous times… but hey, consider the source. (U2 heroine Patti Smith and U2 contemporaries The Pretenders are also up this year. The final choice of nominees will be announced in December, with the ceremony — the Hall’s 20th — taking place in the spring.)
Vertigo Single Details
U2.com have revealed details for the November 8th ‘Vertigo’ single release. Along with the new single it will include another new track titled ‘Are you gonna wait forever’, as well as a Vertigo remix and a cover of Kraftwerk’s ‘Neon Lights’. Attentive readers may remember our preview of Neon Lights in December 2003. You may also remember Bono singing it on the Popmart tour as an intro to ‘I Still haven’t found…’
The DVD will include video footage and photo gallery.

U2tour.de and U2achtung.com have published album, single and tour details as well as other tidbits, with their local Universal office’s blessing:
The new U2 album will be released on November 22. Universal employees say they don’t know what its title will be. As mentioned earlier today, the first single promoting the album is called ‘Vertigo’. The Limited release version will include a 48 page booklet. There will be a DVD containing a ‘Making of’ documentary as well as other not specified ‘visual content’. TV-footage (similar to the Boston TV-format) is planned as well.
