Listen carefully…

Here are the lyrics, as we interpret them:

The heart is a bloom, shoots up through the stony ground
There’s no room, no space to rent in this town
You’re out of luck, and the reason that you had to care
The traffic is stuck, and you’re not moving anywhere
You thought you found a friend, to take you out of this place
Someone you can lend a hand, in return for grace

It’s a beautiful day
(When the?) Sky falls, you feel like
It’s a beautiful day
Don’t let it get away

You’re on the road (run?), but you got no destination
You’re in the mud, in the maze of her imagination
Your love is tough (Your lovin’ is done?), even if that doesn’t ring true
You’ve been all over, and it’s been all over you

It’s a beautiful day
Don’t let it get away
It’s a beautiful day

Touch me, take me to that other place
Teach me love, I know I’m not a hopeless case

See the world in green and blue
See China right in front of you
See the canyons broken by cloud
See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out
See the Bedouin (bad wind?) fires at night
See the oil (ore?) fields at first light, and
See the bird with the leaf in her mouth
After the flood all the colours came out

It was a beautiful day
Don’t let it get away
Beautiful day

Touch me, take me to that other place
Reach me, I know I’m not a hopeless case

What you don’t have, you don’t need it now
What you don’t know, you can feel (it) somehow
What you don’t have, you don’t need it now
Don’t need it now
‘t Was a beautiful day

U2log.com is a semi-satirical weblog made by fans – NOT a(n official) news source. Yes, we try to keep up to date with U2 news and links but it is also about having some fun and taking the mickey.

We apologise for any misunderstandings concerning song interpretations or anything else.

Full version of Beautiful Day

We’ve just heard the rumour that the full version of Beautiful Day can now be downloaded from Napster.

Being the nosy type of blog, we dug in and searched and downloaded and downloaded. However, we have only been able to find fakes. Mostly copies of ‘One’ renamed.

Can’t say we didn’t try, but we are beginning to believe we’ve been had.

So long and thanks…

for all the fish. After 8 years in the biz, Tosca, Norman Hewson’s Italian eatery on Suffolk Street in Dublin is no more. Bono’s big brother will be devoting his time to his new healthfood venture, ‘Nude‘.

We remember the ‘salty fish’ dish. It was inedible.
We asked ‘Is it meant to be this salty?’
They said ‘Yes’.
We stopped eating.

But the minestrone was lovely. Though perhaps a tad salty as well. We hadn’t been there in a while, but we’ll miss Aonghus (the cook) and Norman (the hovering boss) and the little tables in the window where you could be ‘seen’. And watching some people charge their bills to ‘PM’.

Nude‘ has tasty snacks and smoothie drinks, but scores low on the ‘intimate’ scale.

Start Spreadin’ the News..

In this the year of Jubilee we are all asked to share our wealth. Bono, who has been heavily involved with Jubilee 2000, has obviously decided it right to share song titles as well. Richard Ashcroft, formerly of Verve fame, has recently released his debut solo recording which also contains a track called “New York”.
Furthermore Richard took the title “Alone with Everybody” from Charles Bukowksi. Obviously a fan like Bono… “The days run away like horses over the hills”

All that you can obviously state

“I have this idea in my head, just to write as if you’re dead–because when you’re dead, you know, you don’t care what people think and just go and say what you have to say.” – Bono, MTV

Just trying to make sense of U2’s new album title ‘All that you can’t leave behind’. We usually talk about the things you can’t take with you, when you go. When you die. You can’t take it with you, but you don’t want to leave it behind either. The things that matter. Your partner, your kids, your parents, your friends. Which is what supposedly the songs on the album are about. See? It all makes sense.
