We’ve read reports that Amazon has cancelled orders for the 2 DVDs that were set for release. Here’s their comment:
We are sorry to report that the releases of the following items have been cancelled:
U2(Primary Contributor) “Popmart”
U2(Primary Contributor) “Best of U2-1980-1990”
Though we had expected to be able to send these items to you, we’ve since found that they will not be released after all. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience we have caused you.
EUROS WATCH YOUR MAILBOX
The ticket ordering forms for the European Tour will be sent out WITH the latest issue of Propaganda , soon to arrive in your mailbox. If you’re a subscriber, of course. [ source: Cecilia/Propaganda, via U2Vlaanderen ]
Also, reader Flodd tells us: according to SKY magazine (the one you get for free when you subscribe to SKY TV in the UK) tickets for the UK Elevation tour go on sale on March 8th and if you have Sky Digital you can buy them online before the general release.
ALL YOUR GRAMMY ARE BELONG TO US *
U2audio has video of U2s performance and acceptance speeches. Trabbie too.
Netscape.co.uk report on the upcoming Brit Awards, and dedicate a page to U2’s Outstanding Contribution award. It’s not very flattering: These days Bono and crew are keen to get back into the charts and prove their iconic status and this outstanding achievement award will seriously improve their chances. Hopefully they will then put the greatest hits on repeat, leave the room quietly and retire.
[ update: the article in question has since been rewritten and presents a more positive view on the band. The U2log.com team denies ANY involvement in the circumstances that lead to this rewrite. Muwahahahahahaha. ]
Could it be Mr The Edge was tipped off beforehand. It’s more likely he was just feeling confident about winning 3 little statue thingies. Either way his choice of t-shirt for the night says it all.
U2 Satellite Television have an mp3 of U2’s performance at the Grammy’s. Alternatively, download this mp3 from here. And there are lots of pictures at Yahoo. More Grammy audio (acceptance speeches) at U2TOURS.com.
Of course we wouldn’t you to miss Edge’s Orgasmatron.
U2 take Song & Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal at the 43rd Grammy Awards.
WHO’S YOUR GRAMMY?
More Grammy rehearsal pics at the official site. Looks like there might be some moving ones later on, too.
BONO ON BILLY
Rhythm of Life Records have a message from Bono concerning the wonderful Billy MacKenzie (ex-Associates, who died a few years ago), who – he says – reminded him of the ‘similarly persecuted’ Gavin Friday. This piece also featured in a book on Billy by Tom Doyle.
We would recommend Billy’s posthumous release “Beyond the Sun” to anyone… but perhaps you have to be on the histrionic side to appreciate it.
LYRICS FROM B’S NOTEBOOK
Caught by our reader Herbert Alvarado, these are lyrics that appeared on screen in last night’s 60 Minutes II:
out of range out of st????
off the wagon on the smokes
off the canvas on the ropes
out of sorts out of smoke
out of laughter fear of jokes
out of range of where you thought you might be
Daddy go home
out of me out of you
out of reach of rescue
out of the reasons that I left you
out of smokes out of jokes
out of punches on the ropes
out of look out of time
?????? at the end of the line
