From this morning’s Irish Times: The Minister for the Environment, Mr Dempsey, will not intervene to allow a second concert at Slane, despite an appeal from U2 lead singer Bono. More news from the Indo.
In 1987, when U2 were supposedly at the highpoint of their career, we remember being able to effortlessly buy tickets to their gigs in Ireland until the day of the concert. It appears the younger Irish generation has embraced U2 quite unlike the band’s peers. Somebody should write a thesis on it. Someone like John Waters, who wrote Race of Angels.
