I REMEMBER YOU

Joey Ramone died late Sunday afternoon, of lymphatic cancer. He was 49.

MTV News‘ televised coverage of the story has included clips of Bono and The Edge saying that they “wouldn’t be here” without The Ramones and their “three-chord, four-chord music;” a mention of Bono’s Friday night phone call to Joey and their onstage tribute in Seattle; and a reference to the Irving Plaza show where the band played “I Remember You.” Download the MP3 of that performance.

“…but more than anybody, the band that got us started when were fifteen, and sixteen… was the music of the Ramones. So I want to sing this for Joey Ramone.”
