In a break in the Elevation tour, Bono went to Washington, D.C. and spoke with White House deputy chief of staff Joshua Bolten about the AIDS epidemic in Africa and cacelling the debt of the world’s poorest countries. Bono took notice about the American politicians: “The most extraordinary thing about debt cancellation is that it was a bipartisan effort.”
