ireland.com have added to their little U2 special: a review and a slideshow of the first Slane gig.

GUYS HAVE A THIRD LEG?
The tourdates mentioned on the right side of this page were released by youtwo.net earlier this week and are apparently accurate. Over at U2tours.com folks have been gathering the many rumoured dates which differ somewhat from youtwo.net’s list.
Don’t start booking just yet: all dates will be announced officially Tues. Sept. 11
PUT ‘EM UNDER PRESSURE What’s
What’s the score, Larry? The Irish Times reports the Ireland-Holland international may be screened for fans before the main concert at Slane (2) on Saturday begins.
STUCK ON A SIX-STRING
You may have heard about the studio-acoustic version of ‘Stuck In A Moment You Can’t Get Out Of’ that’s slowly making the rounds. @U2 says it’s getting airplay on several major U.S. radio stations — this may be the version that’ll be released as a single in America. We know you’re curious. And because we love you, we’re letting you download it in MP3. For a short time only, as these things usually are.
GREAT SHADES OF POPMART! Look,
Look, ma! Our man’s on TV! Browse MCD.ie’s nine fabulous Slane photogalleries. There’s supposed to be ten, but #1 ain’t workin’ so well. And can we respectfully mention that there’s not a single shot of Larry in the whole batch? You can see his kit, but not the kaboodle…
Boy, that sounded dirty. Link shamefully pilfered from YouTwo.net.
OOPS, SHE’S DOING IT AGAIN
It’s fun to check in with alumni of U2 tours. Like looking at old yearbooks. Class of ’93 and ’01 graduate PJ Harvey is back on tour, and is crediting her education playing in front of you guys and girls with making her a better performer:
“It was a really good lesson for me to deal with playing to an audience whose attention you’d lose if you didn’t give 100 percent, 100 percent of the time. I think a U2 audience is different from a PJ Harvey audience, but those nights where I got them to listen were really special nights.” Harvey said that the lessons she learned will be applied to this tour. “I think I’m a lot more outward going in my performance now, that is, I go out to meet the audience rather than wait for them to come halfway to me, which is something that can happen after so long of just playing your own headlining shows.” See, we told you you’d learn a little something, Peej…
The majority of Harvey’s solo dates in the U.S. are now sold out, but why not check with Ticketmaster to see what’s available? Some U2log.com staffers *cough cough* shall be there with bells on.
In other opening act news, Moby’s most recent diary entry states that he has a little surprise for the 80,000 of you who will see him play at Slane on Saturday. Hopefully, it’s not his pet rat.
SLANE VIDEOS
New video footage of Slane #1 has been added at www.Womanfish.com, including snips of Elevation, Kite, post-show fireworks, and Red Hot Chili Peppers swinging t-shirts.
THEY’VE GOT BATS AND BALLS
Have you ever seen Bono and Australian cricketer Mark Waugh together? Unlikely. As previously reported on U2log.com, they are in fact the same person. No surprise then that Mark Waugh ‘turned down U2 tickets’ last week. So how does this uber-being do it? He runs: see him now, dashing from Delhi to London to get to the Brits in March.
LOVE COMES TUMBLING
U2.com offer a video preview of ‘New York Tumble’, the documentary on Bono, Gavin and Guggi shown tomorrow, Tuesday, on RTE Network 2 at 9pm.
IT JUST AIN’T CRICKET
Today’s Sydney Morning Herald (no weblink to this article) reported on Mark Waugh, an Aussie cricketer over in the UK for the ashes, who apparently turned down U2 tickets to go see Mark Viduka (another Aussie) at Leeds. The article was called “Viduka beats U2”. He must be batty. [ thanks to Joshua for the info ]
