Are you telling me that a single album produces 7 Grammy wins, but doesn’t score the Best Album of the Year award?….. WTF ….. “O Brother” …. That about sums it up.

Well its another fiasco for Album of the Year. Last Year “Steely Dan” this year “O Brother”. What a joke!!

Anyone notice Alicia Keys brush off Bono when she walked up for her song of the year award….

It’s a pity the lads didn’t win album of the year. But at least each of the singles off their album won a grammy. That’s quite a feat in itself.

I don’t understand how O Brother gets it, when it wasn’t country album winner. Unless I’m missing something, shouldn’t you win the home category to win the big one?

I still wish U2 won album of the year, but I can’t complain about “O Brother Where Art Thou”. If any of you have actually listened to it, the whole album is really dang good. Only problem I have with the awards this year is Alicia Keys getting Song of the Year. There’s no way one small piano riff could overcome Stuck in a Moment.

Yeah, I agree. Still, “Fallin” got a LOT more airplay than “Stuck..”, which only became nationally significant after 9/11. ……… Keys seemed really snooty and smug. Here’s to the Best New Artist curse. =) May she rot with all of the other one hit wonders.

Everyone please SHUT UP… learn to appreciate all kinds of music. U2 did great! Not getting a grammy for a certain category doesn’t take ANYTHING away from what that album and band are and what they stand for… geez!

… And did Bono’s voice sound great, and band.

Yes, it sounded great. Still Best Rock Album isn’t quite as prestegious a Album of the Year. Of the MAJOR categories that’ll be mentioned all day tomorrow, U2 only snagged Record of the Year. ……………… Still, this is the best critical response that they’ve gotten on any of their 10 albums. That alone shows that they’re not past their peak.

Shut up? Wouldn’t that defeat the purpose of having a comments section? O Brother is an excellent album that resurrected old school country and bue grass. Besides U2 has so many grammies its not even funny.

There’s room for one more. =) ……….. It really should’ve come as not suprise that U2 lost AotY though. Had that happened, I think that it would’ve been the first time an artist has won album of the year. ….I THINK…. I’m pretty sure that not even the king of flop ..err.. pop Michael Jackson has done that. It would’ve been unprecedented.

nice to see they got a standing round of applause for record of the year

Anyone else’s jaw hit the floor when O Brother won? And how about that collective “wft?” vibe from the audience when U2 didn’t win AotY? Shafted, I say, but 4 grammies still ain’t too shabby…

O come on Bono – less of the ‘God walking into the room’ business..purlease!

It’s been said before so many times, it doesn’t matter what U2 win at award ceremonies, to me and their fans they will always remain the best band in the world.

Call me stupid if you want, but the first time I watched them, I could not figure out where the hell the gospel voices were coming from ( no pun intended)… I was sitting quite a ways back from the tv, and the old eyes aren’t what they used to be… The guys did great!!! Walk on was incredible, and the won 7 awards for All the You Can’t Leave Behind… Here’s the real question; is The Joshua Tree or ATYCLB the superior album??? Or is it another one, like Achtung Baby??? Certainly, everyone in NARAS would say Passengers ;)!!!

i agree, u2 got screwed on album of the year. personally, i don’t see how a soundtrack should have ever been up for the award in the first place. as far as keys brushing off bono, i am not surprised. i met her late last year and she was the most arrogant ass i have ever met. all i can say is that she does not lack self confidence. i’ve been around the recording industry for a long time, so that’s saying something.

Ryan: I’d have to rank my top 5 as: …….. #1)ATYCLB #2)Achtung #3)Joshua Tree #4)War #5)Pop ……… ATYCLB distills 20+ years of music talent & raw emotion. It includes all of their political activism, religious quests, personal crisis’, and soaring tunes. ……. Even better, it’s still fresh and unique. Joshua was great, but fell flat in more than a few areas. ATYCLB has almost no dull zones. …….. It’s all that U2 does well and then some.

Forgot Wild Honey? 😉

I wouldn’t call Wild Honey a dead spot. It’s a bit Beatles-esque, but it’s a nice popish love tune. ……………… Frankly, I’m really surprised that Kite was never released as a single. It’s trippy enough for radio, builds to a fantastic closing, and b**ch slaps the hip hoppers in the face. …… “The last of the rock stars.” …… Sure, but Mother Rock saved the best for last. =p

Achtung Baby is the greatest U2 album ever. Then comes ATYCLB and the Joshua tree.

I would have to have a large gun held to my head and then I would have to say Joshua Tree for me… With every other U2 coming in second… then there’s the best single they ever did (yet), the best bootleg (yet), the best un-released song, and so on… But it’s cool everybody has their fave!!!

I think Alicia was just nervous. What I did notice though that I thought was horrendous was that Maul PigGuinness couldn’t get off his arse when everyone else in the audience gave Keys a standing O. That was horribly rude and right on camera to 200 million people or so. Nice. I hope he has a back problem or something, because that’s the only thing that would make it excusable behavior.
