Take It Higher

In the wake of the Grammy awards, ATYCLB has leapt to #10 on the Billboard albums chart (please note this link will be current for only one week). It has been certified three times platinum in America and is the second-oldest entry in the Top 50, with 70 on-chart weeks under its belt.

The album also reached #2 on Amazon.com’s music sales charts at various points in the past week.

We note that the O BROTHER WHERE ART THOU? soundtrack, which pipped U2 for the Album Of The Year prize, skyrocketed to #2, even outselling a new release this week (Kylie Minogue’s Fever). Could our boys have pulled it off, had they won the gong? We may only dare to dream.

  1. actually U2 has the second longest running album in the top 50. I believe Linkin Park has been out 1 week longer. Although to be fair Linkin Park rose up the charts late after being released for a few months.

  3. Yeah, that’s what I meant by “oldest.” Hopefully the addition of “on-chart weeks” will help to make sure nobody misunderstands. (*sigh* Clarity is clearly — heh — not my strong point.)

  5. What used to be ATYCLB ranking in the Billboard before the Grammys announcements? anyone knows?

  7. ATYCLB reached a low of 86 or 88 on the Billboard chart…in that range anyway. Took maybe a little jump after the Grammy announcements…took a much bigger jump after the Super Bowl where it went from around 64-65 to #26, which positioned it for the current post-Grammy jump…not a bad master plan at all…;-)

  9. How does the O Brother soundtrack become the “Greatest Gainer” when it jumped 13 spots and ATYCLB jumped 18?! Is it a matter of actual sales rather than position?

  11. Kylie’s album is great! One day she might just write one of her own songs. Any chance the poms can claim her as one of theirs?
