U2 NOT TOURING EUROPE

This morning the Amsterdam Arena’s website reports that Mojo Concerts Holland has informed the venue U2’s planned concerts in Amsterdam on July 19 and 20 will NOT take place.

Other venues around Europe have received the same information. It appears
U2 has decided not to tour this Summer. U2.com confirms.

  21. This is great news! Now they can concentrate on getting the next album out – hopefully by winter ’02 or spring ’03. If they toured this summer, it’d be another 2+ years before we something new.

  35. Geez….. I think I know how this rumour started. I think that it’s a combination of several rumors. That Interference thread go the information from a Zootopia thread. The Zootopia poster cited this Usenet posting as his source: http://groups.google.com/groups?q=%22u2+breaking+up%22&hl=en&scoring=d&selm=1994Feb17.165802.837357%40sue.cc.uregina.ca&rnum=9 ………. Unfortunately, that posting was from 1994. I think that he read that old post, combined it with the Courtney Cox rumor and assumed that since there was no summer tour that Adam is leaving the band. ……. SHEESH!!!! There’s no solid basis to this rumor. I think that U2.com put that tour notice on their site to squash any supposed date leaks. …… READ THIS: “If U2 have any tour dates to announce in the future you can be sure U2.Com will bring them to you as soon as they are officially confirmed.” It sounds to me as if they’re saying that U2.com is the final tour authority and NOT the sites that post touring rumors. Imho, THE BAND IS NOT BREAKING UP. >=/

Critically, with all of the awards they’ve won, this is probably the best year in their career. (Joshua tree took the money home more than the awards.) ………. Board posters will not be the first to know of a breakup. The legit new media will, after the band natch.

Well they did that NME taping in Dublin…Adam has not been spending a load of time in Dublin unless they’re working for the past few years…this was probably something that wasn’t worth him coming in for.
