Hawkmoon 269

Womanfish.com has put up a gig from Melbourne (October 13, 1989). It opens with Hawkmoon 269, and we still remember the immense thrill that song used to give us. Or was it the hat?

  1. think it sounds pretty strange…..flanger attack, plus it sounds like they do a couple of key changes, and those extra (minor)chords….??!! why not play a good song they way it sounds best???!! well,…..

  3. Oh dear Bono breaks into the theme song of ‘Neighbours’ during ‘Bullet’. Mind you that was back in the good old days of Scott ‘n’ Charlene and Mrs Mangles, the days where the mullet rained supreme on Aus television. So i suppose its justifiable then.

  5. This is quite possibly one of the best shows U2 has ever performed (pretty much same set as Point Depot New Year’s Eve ’89) … I remember in late 1990 MTV actually played the concert video at something like 2 a.m. — totally unexpected and fulfilling. Must’ve watched that video countless times anticipating the release of their next album almost a year later. I had it saved for posterity’s sake, but then later in ’91 my brother’s idjit girlfriend taped over it with, of all movies, Andrew Dice Clay’s “Ford Fairlane”. AAARRGGGHH! I told him to break up with her for such an offense. He ignored my pleas and married her, anyway. I’ll be listening to these mp3s and reminiscing all day. Thanks!
