Here’s a bit of top goss from Popbitch. According to their latest mail shot, Bono and Noel Gallagher are working on the soundtrack for Tom Cruise’s new War of the Worlds film.

Cruise recently said Bono “makes us all proud to be human.” Which we gather comes in handy when you’re making a film about aliens.

I think Liam’s recent comments about Bono have been out of line, bigtime, but liam is still a great singer. In saying that im actually a much bigger fan of noel and i think him working with Bono would be an outstanding contributiona nd one i’d love to hear. Due to some other comments he had made prior to the awards and the fact I and several journalists thought he was trying to prove how much better he was than to have to play in America, I got the impression he was trying to offend his audience, and hey, it worked!!! He did that right!!! I like Eminem, some of his lyrics are disturbing, but he has explained that writing like he does is his way of getting those feelings out of his system, and that’s more understandable… Liam just shows up with mediocre music and voice ( you are right, it is cool he kissed Bono, I would have done that too) and, to my understanding, symbolicly spits on America, yeah, I think somebody should at least pimp slap him!!! Liam also said in different interviews when they were big here and people still interviewed them that he hated playing Texas, again, because he thinks he is much better than those rednecks (his words, folks)!!! Yes, I would probably lose it and deck the guy if he came to my house with that attitude, and I’d be willing to bet all of you would too… Maybe you guys are more calm than me though, eh;)???

(I actually own the double Cd ‘musical’ starring Dave Essex – now that sucks!) There is more in this world than just U2. And believe it or not Oasis are still popular (maybe not with the Amercian people). I personally don’t like Oasis, but a friend of mine got a ripped copy of their upcoming CD a couple of months ago, and from Track 5 onwards (the first 4 sound a lot like the Beatles), it’s probably the best music they have done yet. BTW – since Liam doesn’t write songs Jd, he sucks? Well that must mean Bono sucks more and more with each recordsince Edge is doing alot more in songwriting with Bono. And gee, U2 got musical inspiration from Dave Stewart for walk on. So why don’t we just respect each others opinions and leave it at that.

  41. wow, i thought u2 fans were the smartest people one earth! 😉 seriously though who the hell wouldn’t know about war of the worlds, book made hugely famous first by its initial release, then again when orson welles read it on the radio on halloween and people thought it was an actual radio broadcast! then again with the original groundbreaking movie. Oh and liam does have a distinctive voice which has made oasis famous, believe it or not fellow yanks there is life outside the states, such as kylie just now making a comeback? she has been a frickin’ goddess in europe, asia, and oz for years now! wow how can people be so naive!

    First of all, I might say that the reason I might have not heard of the book is that I’m not from an english-spoken country so the title of the book is translated to my language. And it may not be translated word by word either so it would not be so easy to figure out the original title if so.
    Being from an non-english spoken country hardly makes me dumb, eh?

  65. For anyone who is interested. On the Amazon.com US site, someone has made a rather nice list of War of the Worlds, book, DVDs and whathaveyou. Maybe we call all regard this as a learning experience and owe it all to Bono, Tom Cruise and of course mr. gallager…
    I’ve always thought that was one of the cool things about being a music fan. You love U2 and you hear they are doing something and you go find out what it is all about. If they are into it, then maybe it’s worth a look, you know?
