SATS (new mix)

From the Best of 5 track promo… it’s SATS. (LINK NO LONGER ACTIVE) Consider us pleasantly surprised the Oasis-coloured paint’s been scraped off in favour of a less British hue. (thx Dave)

  1. hmmmm….interesting. I’m not too sure about the distortion at the end of the track but, hey, it’s different. I’m curious to see what they do to Discotheque…

  3. Would you like to define a promo?, I don’t know what that is….is an official release, I mean FROM U2, or these promos are fan made material

  5. They aren’t fan made, they are for radio stations so that fans like us can hear the music all the way through the release of the Best-Of. I can’t wait to hear more U2. New or Old.

  9. All I can say is…NICE. This is fantastic, I can really feel it at the end of the song. Can’t wait to hear what they did with the other POP songs.

  11. Glad to hear they finally got this one right. The Mullen/Clayton rhythm combo’s just as it should be now, and Edge’s vocals come through MUCH clearer. I hope the boys are happy now.

  13. Is it just me or is this just one channel? it’s like listening to just the left or right side of an old stero Beatles song and missing half the song. I hear things in the background (most of the weirder guitar sounds from the original) and it sounds oddly hollow. Maybe I’m just used to the Pop mix.

  15. It’s no “Sad Bastards Mix” but what the heck, I like it! Got a cool enough mix to make it very pleasing. I too noticed Edge’s more pronounced vocals. Sounds good. Side note: is it me or is there anyone else out there that thinks Edge is actually more vocally talented the the Big B?

  17. That was absolutely horrible. It confirms all of my worst fears about what would happen if they tried to screw around with songs that were great to begin with.

    Horrible.

  21. it’s eh.. i mean it’s still a POP track, which means it’s mega anyway, but perhaps like anonymous said.. maybe i just love and cherish the old mix more.. um the ending was preety bad i must say.. but hey as long as more people get a taste of POP

  23. I like this one a lot better, it’s more mysterious. Less guitars, more ambience. Wish they’d gone for that on E.S. as well. Wimps. 🙂

  25. That was pretty bad. All the bits that I used to like about it have gone. Mind you, at least they can only improve on Discotheque!

  29. It’s not like U2’s going back to “mess up” what they did before. Keep in mind that the band has said during numerous interviews that they were never happy “POP.” Edge, in particular, felt the album was rushed to market and unfinished (remember, they wanted to get the album out before Christmas). They’ve also stated publicly that since the album was released, they’ve wanted to go back and do it right. Hopefully, these remixes are what the band always had in mind in the first place–and not just the end result of bored rock stars messing around with some old material.

  31. Yeah, I do agree. Some of the songs on POP, especially Side B, sound underbaked. But Staring At The Sun sounds great as it is. Maybe this new version will be a grower in time.

  33. at about 3:16 into the song it starts to build up into something that sounds like a HUGE chorus is going to happen and then at 3:23 it hits, then after that it starts to fall off and I wonder what happend. I really don’t like what they did with the verse, but I like that The Edge’s vocals are more pronounced.

  35. I had to take the link off of my school’s server. Seems as if having 15 downloads in 15 minutes from all over the world was eating up too much bandwith or something was said to me about copyright laws. I asked u2log.com to redirect the link to one of the other sites (try atu2.com)but they haven’t yet. Sorry…email me and I can send it directly if I’m around my computer.
