The award for best rock group goes to…

U2 are up for 4 MTV Europe Music awards in the Best Group, Best Rock, Best Live Act and Best Website category. The Awards show is to be held in Barcelona on November 14.

  5. They’ve performed at the MTV Europe a few times before – 2000 was the last one, I think. The promotion for Best of 1980-1990 was The Edge going round all the music papers and talking about the songs. Apparently, the original first line to Sunday Bloody Sunday was, “Don’t talk to me about the rights of the IRA”. Good job they changed it, eh!

  7. I may be taking my life into my own hands with this comment but, U2 hasn’t put anything out or toured since early last year. I love U2, but the fact that they are nominated for anything in a year when they haven’t put anything out has to be one of two things:
    1. A sign of U2’s greatness as a band. or,
    2. A sad commentary on the dilluted state of the euro-music scene.
    I unforutnately think it’s the latter rather than the former.
