Best of 1990-2000 Reactions

In the deep words of u2.com, it’s here!

And since we’re sure most of you haven’t heard a single track from it yet (cough!), we want to know what you think.

Remember to play nice or we won’t play at all.

  1. First of all, if you don’t have it yet, buy it at Circuit City. I only paid $14.99 there. As for the cds, I’m enjoying the b-sides disc a bit more than the best of disc. I think that is simply because I was less familiar with several of those songs, so it’s like discovering new gems.

  3. THIS STINKS! I am semi-intrested in the remixs but this album sucks. The two new tracks don’t fit. They are cool and they need to be part of a new album not a half assed best of with remakes on it. They have made me hate ‘Even Better Than The Real Thing’. I love this band I wish they would concentrate on new albums and stop this nonsense. If the 1978 Bono met the 2002 Bono I bet the 1978 Bono would kick the 2002 Bono’s ass. This is the greatest band in the world selling me old crap when the newst stuff is AMAZING!

  5. When does the DVD come out? The promo was a nice tease.
Any word on releasing sydney or mexico city on DVD?

  7. The First Time does sound like it’s been remixed. When I first heard it on the new Best Of that was my immediate first reaction. It sounds louder, and cleaner. And there’s an echo on Bono’s voice.

  9. “The First Time” sounds like it’s just been remixed in the most basic sense — remastered more than anything else. No re-recorded parts or anything. The original from ZOOROPA has always had a muddy, submerged mix; this is the version from the MILLION DOLLAR HOTEL sdtk. with the better sound equalization.

  11. My first impression is that this greatest hits is better than the 80’s output. The 80’s were a tune-up for these songs. I listen to this CD and I hear a band that is endlessly inventive, musically confident and unafraid of change. Very fascinating chapter for U2. It may end up being my favorite era.

  13. does anyone have any stories about promo items or giveaways from stores selling the best of? i remember an indie store was giving away zooropa jackets for zooropa’s opening day and pop cubes and posters for pop. but nothing for this. shucks. the dvd promo is pretty cool though.

  15. The outstanding tracks gotta be Gone and Numb. I never really liked Numb… until now. The remix sounds great! More significantly, I think it is the only song which features all 4 members of U2 on vocals.

  17. Do the American/Canadian releases have a bouns track? Some of you said that The Fly wasn’t there.

What is the real bonus track in the Euro/Aussie and Japanese releases?

  19. I don’t have the Best of yet, but I just want to make a comment about Matt’s post. Yes, this may not be what you want right now, but i think we need to just sit tight through this storm. I’m sure there is plenty of great music still to be made by U2. We just have to wait and be patient.

  21. I think it’s simply great, the new mixes are ‘better than the real things’… but is it me or does mysterious ways sound different? and I do not only mean the change in one of the lyrics?

  23. Well, here in Europe there are no hidden tracks, the cd simply finishes with “The first Time” (but in the UK “THe Fly” is listed as ghost track.)

  27. dear fixable, I think its pretty selfish of U2 to release this crap. We’ve got it. I aslo feel if U2 wants to fix Pop that is fine but then I want them to give me a refund for selling a defective unfinished album in the first place.

  29. i dont think they’re nessesarily doing it for fans, the bonus disc is more for fans, i think the main one is for those who’ve never bought a U2 album, or those who’ve only heard All That You Cant Leave Behind or whatever. Thats what Best ofs are – a taster, an intro to a band you might like but you’re not sure how much.

  31. Here in Venezuela, a f***ing country where anything works, the 2CD Best Of set (FOR NOW) will hit stores as early as this Friday “possibly”, “maybe”. Could you believe that the Canadian imports of Electrical Storm cost here around $14 US?

  33. Well 22222, JLAS is right. I’m from Venezuela and I won’t go out from here and I’m going to tell you why. Besides Hugo Chavez (our hated President-Dictator-Fidel Castro alike ruler), this country would be a paradise.
Everything that goes wrong here is because of Hugo Chavez. I love my country. And many people love U2 here.

  35. The new remix of Discotecque freakin blows. Remember, kids, as you fight – a record company plays a BIG part in what gets released and when. The “best of” phenomenon has caught on – so U2 just happens to have enough material for one. If you’ll take a look around you – about 7 other best ofs are out right now: Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Nirvana, Aerosmith, KISS…it’s an easy way to make fast cash. I doubt U2 had much to do with the idea of the best of and more to do with what was included.

  37. I like the little changed part in Mysterious Ways like U2log reported sometime back. The new mixes and songs are great. The only problem I have with it is that the dvd wouldn’t work in my dvd player. Anyone else have that problem or did I get a defective one??

  39. Upon listening to the 99-00 Greatest Hits, I’m pretty happy with the song selections. They seem to ‘flow’ well. I just wished they didn’t cut the ending off to Miss Sarajevo. I also wished Dirty Day was on it. Probably my biggest gripe? The B Sides. I own all these mixes (taking into account I have the 8 minute version of Salome). I guess that don’t have a huge amount of B sides (again I have them all anyway). I just hope they bring out a live compliation, otherwise the 2nd Cd should’ve been their better live songs from 99-00. e.g Dirty Day, Daddy’s gonna pay, Please, Love is Blindness etc. Funny thing though about the B Sides, I used to hate that mix of ‘Happiness is a warm gun’ – now I love it. Strange?

  41. Um, there is nothing different about EBTTRT or The First Time… They’ve simply been remastered.
“Mysterious Ways” does have a new lyric (“And no questions, she knows why”) in it, which people have known about forever, but the music is not new at all.

  45. LOL @ Jim. I won’t buy it. Thank you. U2 doesn’t need a ‘taster’ everyone knows them. Its crap. Its not worth the plastic its encoded on. If they want to fix the world maybe they could start with not filling the world up with more useless plastic. Ok maybe that is a little harsh, but come on. Guys get in the studio and have new material out every year. I command you. Please I am half kidding so don’t fill up this page with hate posts about me.

  47. Take “Stuck in a moment”, “Real thing” and “The first time” out…put “Kite”, “Please” and “Walk on” in (maybe even “Elevation”, and you have an authentic BEST OF…Also, the new mixes of “Gone” and “Numb” are finally starting crawling on me. One more thing: WHO PICKED THESE B-SIDES??? Where are songs like “Holy Joe”, or the BETTER remixes like “Discotheque(DM Deep Club)” or “Staring at the sun (Monster Truck)”???

  51. whoever it is on the left channel intoning “i feel numb” (me thinks this is one adam clayton) is WOEFULLY out of tune! it is murderous! it should have been kept hidden low in the mix as it was in the first place, not brought up the front to torture us. perhaps this is u2 having a little private joke?

  53. The album in itself is absolutely wonderful – total ear candy. The second half of the bsides disc is my only “?” other than the lack of The Fly here in the US. There were indeed a lot of great bsides played live that should have been included: Holy Joe, Satellite of Love, Can’t Help Falling in Love, and many others that would have been nice additions: Alex Descends into Hell for a Bottle of Milk/Korova 1, Where did it all Go Wrong?, and Two Shots of Happy, One Shot of Sad. Elevation and Walk on will be included in the next collection. It’s kind of nice that they have an album that will stradle the two decades and have material on both. The live cut of Please is nice and the new video of Beautiful Day is pleasant as well. Overall, nicely done lads.

  55. All I have to say is, U2 could release an Album with nothing more than them talking in a room about Bob Geldoff, list them all as tracks, and I would still buy the damn thing; and I would like it too….

  57. I’m enjoying it. I have mixed opinions on the remixes. I like the Numb remix, don’t really care for the others, but I don’t hate them. Hands the Built America is good. I wish The Ground Beneath Her Feet and Lemon were on here. I could do without Stuck. I’m glad UTEOTW made the cut. I love how the album closes with The First Time, but I wish my copy had The Fly. (Damn Europeans! *wink*) The B-Sides album is great.

  61. Couple things that came to me while watching the supplimental DVD:

    a) Forgot how cocky the guys were during ZooTV/Pop era
    b) Forgot how amazing Please was live…HOLY F*@K!!!
    c) How much these guys have made an impact on me over the years.

  63. We’re all so critical. I was hoping that a hidden track would be on the US release but that was not the case. The song list is great and they flow into one another smoothly. All the tracks have been remastered. I was hoping that the single version of EBTTRT would be on there instead of the album version. The single version is slightly different in the middle of the song. All the new mixes sound great as well. “Gone” is so good! Like all of you out there, I also listened to all the tracks posted on the various websites, but to have them on cd they sound so much better. I’m definitely going to get the UK version, gotta have “The Fly”. 😉 I wish U2 would have released live B-sides from Zoo TV or even POPMART on the Electrical Storm single. The remixes of “New York” are alright, but give us some rare stuff. They did it for the “Sweetest Thing” single. Oh and another thing, “Elevation” and “Walk On” came out in 2001, they don’t qualify for this set.

  65. People need to calm down on their attacking of others. Now I know why I left the world of U2 chats an MSG Boards for the most part. Sure the people are great but there is like this ‘U2 Fan Regime’ that if you give your true opinion of something and it goes against the band, you are tarred and feathered.U2 log asked everyones opinion they didn’t say “post praise” so ease off and don’t take things so personally. Its just a band, just an album, just music in the end.

  69. I don’t mind the rippers, but I do mind nasty personal attacks. Chill out, would you, please?

I bought this album because I buy everything of theirs. I simply support them because of who they are and what they represent. I’m proud to say I’m a U2 fan. Love “Numb” with Larry’s out of tune vocals and “Gone”. That’s just wonderful. And Sixtoe? That was, hands down, the best post.

  71. ADAM: when I say “authentic”, it’s just a comment I’m making. I don’t define the rules. I don’t want to. Let the band do that and let us have healthy arguments on what we think. Or would you rather just agree with everything they do?

  75. I think Lemon could have been re-done and included Bono’s “Midnight, Midnight, Midnight is where the day begins” lyrical rearrangement that he used on the Zooropa Tour. And, IN AUSTRALIA we have no sight of THE FLY and I hate the tacky use of the words “NEW SONG” next to the new songs. It smacks of targetting the uninformed, all of whom probably wouldn’t care anyway! U2 still rock though…

Bring on the DVD with stuff I don’t already have! The Lemon video alone is a classic.

  81. maybe it’s just my copy of the dvd, but has anyone noticed the mixes for the “Please” and “Beautiful Day” videos sound funny? for example, there are next to no background vocals durng the chorus of “BD” (though they are there on the history thing, and probably the preview of the actual dvd release).

  83. I love the compilation, but I do have a couple of gripes. The second one might just lead into a rant…

First of all, I agree with Dave about the b-sides. With so many good and solid original b-sides, I can’t figure out why they most filled that disc with sub par remixes. The remix of IGWSHA is horrible! The weird drum loop completely ruins the song, and the real version of Salmoe is a million times better than the stupid remix on the b-sides cd. That remix of EBTTRT is retarded too. I don’t get why you would rrelease a remix of a song that is already on the Best Of. It’s a waste of space!
Secondly, all this bonus track stuff is really retarded. They should just can the bullshite and put out one cd for everyone that is the same, except maybe for Japan since they have some major import problems (imports are actually less money than the Japanese releases there so most bands include a bonus track or two to give the people a reason to get the Japanese version) I don’t get why North America (U.S.A. in particular) gets shit on. I am a Canadian, but for them… no ES single, no bonus track (same here in Canada) and Europe always gets the better shows. Who got to hear the Zooropa songs live? Who got more varied setlists on the Elevation tour? It was them. I hate to sound whiny, but I just don’t get it. In all fairness, U2’s last shows for the tour after 9-11 were amazing and they did shuffle things up a bit. I dunno. I just believe in equal fan rights. lol.
    Okay, flame away!

  85. I’m a bit disappointed with the whole thing. For me the 90s U2 were quite different from the 80s U2. They dreamt it all up again and were, well, fun. For me 90s U2 is all about colour, art, innovation, technology, experimentation, excitement: a transition from 80s U2. I like colour U2, not black and white U2, which is why i’m a bit disappointed. The booklet (especially the cover) is my first qualm – they are trying to make it look a companion tied to the 80s best-of with the sombre photos, the straightforward design. I wanted a colorful and striking cover – a bit more like the zooropa one – to convey the exuberance of zoo tv, of popmart etc. The choice of songs on the first disc seems to indicate they wanna pretent all that experimentation didn’t happen. no Lemon. no Mofo. no Elevation. And even though they’ve included Discotheque, they’ve ruined it by making it more ‘rock’. Most agonising (at least for me in oz) is that the’ve ommited the calling card song for the new U2: The Fly (why?? – it still sounds fantastic to these ears). And what did they change the mighty Numb for??? that new version sounds awful – like some unmixed outtake. The inclusion of the remix CD is cool – i love lady w the spinning head – but the Lemon remix choice is strange – surely the Perfecto mix (used during popmart shows) is streets ahead of the ‘Jeep Mix’ dirge. And wheres the Mofo Phunk Phorce mix? Great to see Your Blue Room again though. The DVD is a scam – nothing on there worth more than one look at (mine doesn’t work properly either – cuts out in parts). Overall I think this the record company and U2 pandering to the ATYCLB punters – pretending that a lot of the ‘arty’, ironic U2 never happened. Making it a transitionless companion to the 80s Best-Of. Which is kind of ironic considering that their transition guaranteed their continued relevance (and career).

  87. There are some good choices on the album (UTEOTW,Your Blue Room) and some “less good”;O)No Lemon Perfecto Mix,no Popmuzik Popmart Mix and no Fly.
I like the new mixes of Numb and Gone. They sound GREAT! I don’t like SATS and Discotheque.Overall I like the album.

  91. beats: that is so true, Bono always said especially during the Pop era: ‘We’re trying to kick Rock’n’ Roll into the 21st century’ The 90’s were about songs like Lemon and Mofo, thats what I loved most. It was arty, but it was just great. They seem to have gone back on what they said about moving forward with progressive rock, which pisses me off! Now about the Best Of: I am a huge U2 fan and I am sorry to say I am quite disappointed with this release. Half of the B-sides disc is deserving but the other half of it is crap. It should only have b-sides, originals or covers.. if they wanna realease remixes they should do a best of remixes later or something. I also do not understand the mixing of Discotheque and Staring At The Sun again. With special emphasis on Staring At The Sun, I think that both of those songs were fine the way they were! Now discotheque sounds quite unfinished (Ironically) and Staring At The Sun just sounds plain awful and all over the place. The Original Staring at The Sun was perfect in my opinion..Does anyone agree? What also makes me angry is they left songs like: The Fly and Lemon off which happen to be extremely crucial songs to the whole Z00 TV era, which was IMO the best U2 era to be involved in. I truely believe they made big mistakes with this Best Of and I really do not understand how they did, with so much fantastic material to choose from! One of the only shine throughs would have to be Gone .. that version is just absolutely brilliant and powerful and at the moment it is my favourite U2 song. The Best Of 1990 – 2000 is ok but it could have been a whole lot better. PS I don’t like Hands That Built America.. it’s wanky

  95. STOP complaning about
what should be on the album or what should
    be left off.
If you like the fly and it’s not on your best of copy, then pull out achtung baby and listen to the Fly.
    It’s that simple,
    rock on!!

  97. This is well thought out, good stuff and an excellent package overall. Love the two buffalos on the cover that turn into fly shades if you squint. My only criticism is….isn’t there a little re-writing of history here with the remixed POP tracks? Mind you, it’s their album and they can do what they want. Good job overall.

  99. It doesn’t really matter if you think that the new mixes are great or that they are not, or if you think that they should or shouldn’t have included any particular song; what is important is that this is a cd that was thought through and compiled by the guys themselves. It’s not a just an easy way to make money, it’s a sincere statement and they put a lot of work in it. It’s a present! It’s a treat! It’s amazing and its GREAT, because its from U2, but not JUST because of that. Having said that, now please guys, get back to business and finish the new album within the next six or seven months! I’m dying to hear it! By the way, this bonus-dvd live (mural)version of Please is so F***ing Brilliant, amazing, moving and beautiful, it manages to fill my eyes with tears every single time I play it. Hard to Imagine they will ever be able to top that!

  101. ……Deep sigh…… Vincent: please wake up! By now we all know the story about the fly being a hidden track. And if you look very closely at the front of the cd, it says: ‘the best of 1990-2000’ Get it? so no elevation and walk on, you see?

  103. I just thought I would comment on how tired I am getting of people saying “If you don’t like the tracklisting pop the old albums in your cd player!” That is besides the point. People were asked for their opinions on what they though about the album, and they are giving it. Who are you guys to say that their opinion is of no value? It really irks me that people are just dismissing others opinions because they don’t agree with them. Relax everyone, they are just opinions and you are all entitled to your own. Last time that I checked here, nobody’s words were the gospel.

  105. So far, so good. The alternate vocals on “Gone” take getting used to. The ones on POP are superb. Also, I think it’s a shame that the Helsinki version of “Please” on the DVD gets cut off just before that beautiful PopMart segue into “Streets.” They could have thrown that in instead of that awful alternate video for “Beautiful Day.” Oh, two live suggestions for the next tour (’04?)… “Lady With The Spinning Head” & “North & South Of The River.” Two lost classics.

  107. simple thoughts:
    1) i wish “night and day” was on this (and yes wankers, i am able to hear it easily playing my One single)
    2) of all the lemon mixes, i never liked the jeep mix
    3) i sorta like the fact that songs which were snubbed on the a-sides, were mentioned in some form on the b-side (Lemon, IGWSHA)
    4) isn’t there a much longer version of the gimme some dignity numb mix?
    5) dispite some flaws with the track listing, it does mean something to me that the band wanted these songs put together
    6) on that note i think the band members are the worst one to put a best-of album together b/c they give no respect to their older stuff and constantly rethink what they liked in an earlier era (e.g. no “Gloria” on the first best-of!)
    7) where is howie b (just a random question)
    8) it would’ve been cool if a version of adam& larry’s mission impossible theme was included
    9) i want a nice quality version of mattew robert’s explicit mofo mix
    10) i REALLY wish there was a true gem like the perfecto mix of daddy’s gonna pay…

those are my 3 cents worth…

  109. Want to know why “Mission: Impossible,” “Night and Day,” “Satellite of Love,” “Paint It Black,” “Fortunate Son,” “Can’t Help Falling In Love,” “or “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” didn’t make the cut? (Even though most of them were kick-ass, and “Satellite,” in particular, pretty much summed up Zoo-era U2?) Royalties to the original artists. And this album is about the five members of U2 making money, not the estate of Cole Porter, Lou Reed, or Lisa Marie Presley. I’ve listened to both CDs a few times now, and this just doesn’t quite seem like the 90s U2 I remember. Feels more like a club DJ’s interpretation of 90s U2.

  111. I the the “Best of” CD is a great album, but I agree, it is not representative of the decade. It is a white-washed, radio-friendly version. I love the GONE remix. Unlike most people, I find the B-Sides more interesting. I hadn’t heard the Dirty Day (Junk Day Mix), and to me it’s worth buying for that alone. Hands That Built America, seems like it would be beautiful in the context of the film soundtrack, but seems out of place here.
I will say with HANDS, that at least it is a step away from lyrics like “heavy as a truck”. Phew… Finally, the B-Sides verion of Electrical Storm is so much better than the Orbit Mix. Aright, I’m done.

  115. I would just like to point out that at my local music store, the DVD single of Electrical storm is a measly 50 cents less than the limited edition double cd with DVD… Damn stupid music industry!!! And it all is great, we have the old versions, why not let U2 do something different and then we have all the versions for us to choose from??? Then, everybody’s happy!!!

  119. Let’s take in account that Gone, Numb, Staring at the sun and Discotheque are “new mixes” and no “remixes”, that is, another mix as the album mix, not a remix of the album mix, got it? And i love them because they are played the way I like: I always wanted a U2 record with studio versions of their live versions on tours, just think about Please (album version) and Please Single version. They rediscover the songs playing them live, and in the case of SATS, surely they recorded the “best of” version during or after the popmart tour. Of course there are songs that you can’t make a better version (i guess that the scat part in One was recorded once for the eternity!!!)

  121. The new mixes of the Pop songs are great. Not because I think they are better, just because they are DIFFERENT. I enjoy thinking to myself “which version of Gone should I pop in?”

And like a lot of people I’m a bit put off that the Fly isn’t in there. Not because I’m too lazy to put in Achtung Baby, but because it feels like my favorite tune has been disrespected or something.

The back end of the B-Sides disc is a bit strange. I’d have rather liked having more “unreleased” songs instead of remixes.

Whatever, you know we’re all deliriously happy with the collection. Any true fanatic would be. (Notice use of the word “fanatic”.)

  123. I truelly miss The Fly. It’s like the 90’s did not happen without The Fly. When I first heard of it, I thought: stupid title, this can b no good. Then there was the vid premier on MTV and boy did I like it… I couldn’t wait to hear it again and again. But to the boys it probably hasn’t the same effect and/or memory. Is it of tours now too?

  125. If I wasn’t a big U2 fan and had heard all the songs before I think I’d be very happy with this Best Of.. which is what it’s made for i suppose. Right up to UTEOTW the flow is excellent, really excellent. I’m suprised they didn’t stick the single version of EBTTRT on (with extra guitar overdub at the end). The new version of Gone is spot on after a few listens but i don’t think Disco or Numb are as cohesive as the album versions. My only gripes are the b-sides which are mainly dance re-mixes.. i don’t like dance re-mixes… satellite of love and holy joe would have made it more balanced IMHO.

Overall I think the band has done a great job to make this comparable with the best of 80-90 album, i thoght it wouldn’t hold up well.

  127. Reading the complaints and gripes and bitching and moaning and la dee dah here … f*ck this time and place, I’m going outside to connect witht he world, talk to people, HAVE A LIFE.

  129. it’s a shame when people can’t have a discussion about quality without some getting angry or defensive on the basis of someone’s simple opinion. if we’re asked what we think of the new compilation – we say it – we don’t just say its great just because its been put out. the reason why some people have a negative view of the CD is that the tracklisting isn’t so important for fans like us – we already have all the songs. but it is important for the rest of the public who haven’t got every album and every recording. it’s just a shame when you think that all those people miss out on the edgier (sorry for the pun) U2 and instead only get the radio-friendly stuff. and Bonobo – you need to lighten up and respect other people a bit more – we’re not complaining so much as stating an opinion! is that ok?!

  131. Pop Tart: I think some of Pop could have been re-worked, but they chose 3 already great songs, admittedly Gone is much better, but not the others.. I thought they could have done heaps more with Wake Up Dead Man and If You Wear That Velvet Dress etc..

  133. Check this – take 4 from each actual ALBUM and 2 from the side projects:
ACHTUNG – Real thing, One, Mysterious, The Fly – ZOOROPA – Zooropa, Lemon, Stay, Numb – PASSENGERS – Blue Room, Miss Sara – POP – Disco, Staring, Gone, Please – MILLION DOLLAR HOTEL – Stateless, Ground Beneath + the 2 new songs – Electric & The Hands. NO remixes, ALL originals. ATYCLB should be for the next “Best of”. Remixes of POP on the B Sides/Remix disc which should have had Always, Where did it all go Wrong and Night & Day. Just my preference – if you don’t like it go listen to Matchbox 20 or somethin …Ciao Mama

  137. I have some gripes with the CD booklet. It’s very nice & tastefully done, but I would have added some color. Where’s the Mirrorball Man? Where’s Mr. McPhisto? Where are the blue Zooropa suits? Surely you can’t forget about these fine gentlemen.

  139. My contentions are that the original version’s of the Pop tunes should have been on the disc instead of the new mixes/remixes. I like the original Gone vocal much much more. Walk On shouldnt have been left off. It was salve for the year 2001 to me. Furthermore, SIAMYCGOF wasnt mastered to the same volume level as the rest of the tracks, its louder, you have to adjust the volume. Arnie Acosta didnt do a good enough job!!!
Also…DO NOT BUY this at Mediaplay…$22.75 with tax. Best Buy…$15.89 with tax.

  141. I am really diggin’ the Dirty Day junk mix, especially the screaming, “WAKE UP!” Yow. Also, I searched everywhere for the DVD (not the promo) and no one had it. I’m a little veklempt.

  143. One of the first things that struck me about the bestof 90’s version is that the quality was not far off that of the 80s possibly more refined and matured . Once again it is evidence that the greatest rock act the world has seen keeps getting greater

  145. When Larry comes in on the right channel during Numb, it just made me crack up. It’s like someone stuck a mic in front of him while he was doing something else and said “Hey Larry, we need a sample for the new mix!”. That’s hysterical! 🙂

Bring on the PopMart and ZooTV DVD’s. Please. My VHS versions have LONG since worn thin and even my VCD’s are oxidising.

Anyone else notice that the Best Of 80-90 was bronze and 90-2000 is silver. Three guesses what 2000-2010 will be. And yes, the guys have signed for 3 best of’s and 1 extra so expect the “Entire U2 Catalogue” on high-density in 2012 😉

  151. I miss The Fly too, PopTart. It’s a true shame that the American Interscope release didn’t have a hidden track. Not even a f***ing single was launched here. U2’s record companies are punishing America! That’s not fair!
But I still love that record (specially The History DVD).

  155. Good, despite the dance remixes (I hate those) but actually better than I thought it would be. It’s still not the U2 of the 90s. I figured they should at least try to recapture the magic of that time instead of try to remix for clubs and such.

  157. So, big deal The Fly isn’t on the American version of Best Of. It’s on Achtung Baby. You know, the greatest album ever made? Pop that one into your CD player.

  159. Josh! This post is about what people think of The Best of 1990 – 2000 not about Achtung Baby. People are expressing what they feel should have been on The Best Of 1990 – 2000, we all know it’s on Achtung Baby for f***s sake, but it should be on 1990 – 2000 too ! 😛 along with Lemon, Who’s Gonna Ride… and Non Tampered Pop songs apart from Gone

  161. maybe for the next best of album they should made an vote on the u2.com site which songs we would like to see on the album.I believe Patty
Smith did the same thing for her album.
I’m satisfied with the track’s they have chosen for this best of cd, with a superb version of Gone.

  163. Well, as much as I want to argue with you about The Fly not being on the U.S. version of Best Of, I must say that it IS on the U.K. version, in addition to every version of Achtung Baby, as well as every version of The Fly single. You know what should also be on the Best Of, this… The Wanderer, Zoo Station, Babyface, The Ground Beneath Her Feet, Zooropa, Daddy’s Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car, She’s Mystery To Me, Slow Dancing, Please, Mofo, Always Forever Now, & a live version of Desire sung by McPhisto.

  165. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I think…the original version of “Electrical Storm” really kicks arse! Its
much better than when William Orbit got his hands on it!

  171. I found the B-sides to be more interesting than the “greatest hits” but my big problem is that the sound on the DVD seems to drop out a lot. Has anyone else seen this or is it yet anbother problem with old Tosihba machines?
