Your New Favorite Band?

Promo Edge talks to Billboard and sez the new album’s in the planning & demo stages. He also lists the bands they’ve been listening to: The Pixies, Sonic Youth (wait a second, is this 1991?), NYC’s own The Mooney Suzuki (wait a second, is this 1977?), aaaaaaand (drum roll please) The Hives. Versace has a set of matching suits waiting.

  1. i wish they’d try listening to some of the great irish acts that have appeared in the last couple of years. it’s an explosion really, ireland’s the best place for live music at the moment. for anyone interested, check out Damien Rice (www.EskimoFriends.com) and The Frames (www.theFrames.ie) in particular, but also David Kitt (www.DavidKitt.com), Mundy ((www.mundy.ie), Nina Hynes, Mic Christopher (www.micchristopher.co.uk), Gemma Hayes (www.gemmahayes.com), Bell X1 (www.bellx1.com), Paul O’Reilly, Creative Control, melaton (www.melaton.ie), pete courtney (www.petecourtney.com), paddy casey, mark geary, the prayer boat, and loads more! go check them out!

  5. ash write really catchy songs, and they’re nice people. but u2 know them.

i have’t every heard u2 mention any of the others even though some, such as Damien Rice, The Frames, Gemma Hayes and David Kitt are all really popular in Ireland now. This is a really really amazing time for Irish music and U2 seem to be missing out on it all. I’m sure the word will get out soon though.

  7. Um… Ash having a deal with the Irish government? I would say no, considering I am Canadian and like the band. Nice conspiracy theory though.
