The first Easter Egg on The Best Of 1990-2000 DVD has been uncovered — a swimming-Trabant screensaver. Riiiiiiiiight. See our comments for how to access it, as well as how to access a short clip of extra footage from “Last Night On Earth” — thankya to Matthias, Jim, and Sixtoe for their detective work. Any others?

I remember seeing this one in the menu under the extra features menu (DVD-rom) or something?

okok – I’ve just discovered another one, unless I’m being anal and this is part of the normal DVD…
I can’t work out easter eggs for the life of me so I just go for the ‘shuffle’ option until something crops up. Well I just did that and found a wee video..all I’ll say is Mr W Burroughs is there and it’s pretty funny….

Leave the menu on four screen for about four minues. When you hear the clip of Bono saying “You didn’t all come here to watch TV, did you?”, press “enter” (or select, or whatever it’s called on your particular remote) twice. Press select again to return to the menu.

The LNOE extra footage can be selected from the LNOE track menu. Select the 3rd animated item in the left column. Got this to work via Fredo from U2achtung.com

Put on a pair of wrap-around shades, say three hail Marys, utter these magical words “b’jeez’ and lie in the gutter, but look at the stars – and there you have it!Try that or 8 pints of the black stuff.

ok geeks, who can answer this one? it says on the back cover that there are directors’ commentaries – now, do they mean the ones in the mini-docos (anton etc) or is there some hidden audio track for all the clips? i really want to know how they did that ‘wheel thing’ effect, goddammit. “twirling camera on a stick” is not an adequate explaination!!

That’s easy….go to TRACK SELECTION in the MAIN MENU….choose a song….select the ICON next to the Director’s name…commentary.

And if it helps, the icon for the Directors’ Commentaries looks kind of like a carrot. At least, it does to me.
By the way, I find it impossible to access the hidden LNOE clip on my DVD player – the box won’t seem to highlight. If I bung the disc in my PC and click on the box, it works fine though. Anyone else have this problem?

LNOE: From the “Smyth” option, go up TWICE, left TWICE, and the animation should be highlighted – or just go to title 18. By the way, the “carrot” icon is a director’s megaphone. Any better directions on the Trabbie Easter egg?
