Youtwo.net: Say it ain’t so

Youtwo.net is calling it a day. Prarit, who has run the site for seven years, writes about his decision on the Youtwo.net homepage: “I know a lot of you are wondering exactly why this site is going down. I suppose it would be easy to say I’m bored of the band (which isn’t true), or that I’m broke (which isn’t true), or make up a plethora of excuses. There isn’t a simple explanation other than I’m sick of working on this website. It takes roughly 2 (sometimes 4-5!) hours a day, $300-$500 a month, and countless emails to keep this site running.”

U2log.com would like to thank the staff of Youtwo.net for their exhaustive work on this great resource over the years.

  13. Other than a handful of websites, like youtwo.net and this one, I don’t think there are many websites out there that provide intersting U2 news on a daily basis. At least it doesn’t sound like it will become another cobweb of the internet.

    Youtwo.net will be missed.

It will be a shame not only to not have it on a daily basis but also all those archived articles…sort of a history of the past seven years at least. Hopefully maybe somebody will archive those archives and make it accessible again. Bravo Prarit, Cindy, and the rest of the crew.

  25. WOW! There were two sites I would always check each and every day for new U2 news: U2log.com & Youtwo.net. These were the two best fan created sites with the freshest content – period.   29. I commend Prarit on a great job done, and on the difficult job of saying enough’s enough. Youtwo.net was always the top source for the latest most up-to-date U2 news. I will miss his website, but I can always come to this one or @U2.com. Maybe not always as thorough at Youtwo.net, but great none-the-less.

Everyday for the past two years, i would check four sites in this order, u2log.com, youtwo.net, atu2.com, then cinecon.com (i am a film student after all), whenever i was bored and surfin’ the net, i would go to those sites over and over, now, no more youtwo.net, that site amazed me, because they gathered anything u2 related in the news, not just online, but in papers and magazines, so that was quite a task, and i remember i was actually honored when i got something i submitted on the wichita eagle, sorry about any mispellings but i’ve been filming until now, and just finalyl got online to check my e-mail, and check my usual sites, and find this out, :*-( its a very sad day for the u2 online fan community, i say we do something great for them, god bless, one love, one life, but we’re not the same we’ve got to carry each other, one, i can’t live with or without you, it takes a second to say goodbye (but why is it so hard?), your in my mind, all the time, i know thats not enough, well if the sky can crack there must be someway back, to love and only love. anyone have the e-mail address for prarit’s e-mail address?

I had thought it was an indication of the site becoming even more professional and thorough. but no, it was just the last throes. 🙁 oh well – God bless.

  81. I respect Prarit’s decision to take down the site. It takes a lot of time and commitment to run a website of that caliber which is why I could never run one cause i’m just not a commitment guy. His work was appreciated and will be missed. But as long as u2log stays up i’m a happy man. Maybe i’ll take this opportunity to thank VonB, Chris, Rosco and nothedge for a job well done your work is appreciated.

I’d also like to publicly thank Parit for linking and crediting us one of many small multimedia sites U2star, u2star.com from our earliest days from back when we were u2.it and other nice things he did for me personally, anyways I hope after a long break he and his team can come back for a reunion and come up with some way to dream it out loud, thanks again and good luck in the future not from me but all U2 fans alone!

    Like I said at the website, the truth of the matter is that I’m just sick of working on it right now. And right now is a good time to take some time off while the band are in hiatus …

    I’ve recieved well over 1000 pieces of email from fans around the world in the past few days — if you’ve bounced an email message it’s because my mailbox has filled up a few times :o), so feel free to resend your messages.

Unfortunately there isn’t another site that provided as much for U2 fans as that site did. I miss it. I want it to come back. U2 is my absolute favorite thing in the world.
