Golden Globe Nomination

U2 have been nominated for a Golden Globe award in the category of Best Original Song in a Motion Picture for “The Hands That Built America” in Martin Scorsese’s film “Gangs of New York.” Other nominees in the same category include Madonna, Paul Simon, Hans Zimmer with Bryan Adams and Gretchen Peters, and Eminem. The Golden Globe award winners will be announced on January 19, 2003.

In addition to Ian’s comments…Eminem SHOULD win, not because he’s more popular, but because it’s the best song in that group (no offense to U2’s entry but we all know how bad that song is)…Eminem’s track is his most mature, inspirational, REAL track he’s ever done and I hope he does win this one. It’s about time he got away from the “F this, my mom that” lyrics…just my .02

  5. LOL…I just listened to both tracks and started to laugh…To be completely honest, I haven’t listened to Hands for a LONG time and WOW…it is a killer tune…So forget my previous line of “we all know how bad that song is”…But I still think Emninem should win 😉

  7. I hate to say it, because I was never impressed by Eminem’s churlish charms, but “Lose Yourself” deserves to win. “Hands” is growing on me, but somehow just doesn’t have that je ne sais quoi.
