Leave the fiddle. Take the cannoli.

U2star.com have dug up some rare U2 footage in which the boys have a go at playing The Godfather. We remember hearing of this video as an industry only release, made to thank an American record mogul (“Lou”?) for his work in pushing Joshua units. Correct us if we’re wrong.

  1. that is, um, almost unspeakably weird. i cannot believe the voice edge musters there, and his odd little cackle, and when bono hits him (shaddup edge!) and larry with the violin. um.

  7. I think this is some of the most astonishing non-musical footage (with the exception of Larry as ‘Babyface Mullens’) of U2 I’ve ever seen – amongst all the billions of hours worth of footage that is out there. This was obviously circa 1987-8 and it just goes to prove that they were having fun with what they were doing and who they were long before Achtung Baby unlike the majority of the press would have you believe.

Just makes you wonder if there are any more gems like this in the vaults. I’m sure there are!

  9. WOW! That….is………………..total loss of words here. Cast perfectly – Bono the head, Edge the “yes” man, Larry the hitman and Adam….well still Adam, even in the funny lookin’ hat.

  11. The LOU they mention during the video clip is LOU MAGLIA former head of Island Records. Today LOU MAGLIA is President and owner of ZOO Entertainment (nothing to do with U2’s ZOO TV).
