  1. I recorded this in 1990, borrowed it to somebody and never saw it again…..doesn’t seem like 13 years ago!! verdict…great tune. Do you think this is recorded at ‘Dogtown’?

  3. Nice and intriguing video!

Jim, I don’t think it’s dogtown (dogtown was an empty house they hired to finish Achtung Baby after Berlin). So it could be STS or Edge’s basement where Night & Day was recorded (could this recording be from the same session?)

    Santiago

PS: Will the version of Wild irish rose recorded for the Million Dollar Hotel ever see the day?

  5. I was sure My Wild Irish Rose was gonna be on the soundtrack to Million Dollar Hotel. I wonder why they nixed it; it’s probably the most recent U2 song on which Bono’s range isn’t limited.

  7. Interesting video and song…. seems to have a part of the Salome Outtake “Sick for love” in it towards the end( the egde’s guitar part)

  9. This has always been my favorite ‘unreleased’ U2 song/demo. When I met Bono in Dublin in the Spring of 2000, after the Million Dollar Hotel was released (when they were recording ATYCLB), I asked why this song wasn’t on the soundtrack. He just said “I don’t know”. Must have been a typical Bono moment of forgetfulness when they got the songs together for the soundtrack. Perhaps he forget he had written it all those years ago. This clip is from the US version of “Bringing it all back Home”. Originally aired on the BBC, it had a male voiceover. This one (with what sounds to be Emmylou Harris) was aired on the Disney Channel and later on A&E. There is a companion book to “Bring It All Back Home” which mentions a little bit about the song. (BIABH was a series on Irish music like the newer “From a Whisper to a Scream”). Lastly, there was a double CD soundtrack to the BBC series but sadly the Bono/U2 track was not on it (though it does have a track with Adam and another track with the Edge; who is credited as An O’ther). Cheers.
