One Tough Mofo

Today’s Mirror features an article in which Bono describes when he and Edge were confronted by an armed robber in Germany.

“A guy walks up with a gun. I turned around and just said ‘f*** off,'” Bono said. “He kind of looked at me, but me and Edge just kept on walking and talking.”

When the two musicians turned around to check what the robber’s reaction was, they saw the man shoot the gun off in another direction. Only after the “posh f***-off rock stars” (as Bono called himself and his friend) were safely out of harm’s way did they realize the seriousness of the situation.

  1. I’m glad to hear that everything went well and nothing bad happen to the guys. I think they’re really really lucky, I mean, which are the chances of being unhurt after someone aims you with a gun and you tell him f*ck off?
    Please take care guys 🙂

  3. As Mirror also stated:

“U2 are not known for being stupid, but not realising you’re being robbed when someone shoves a gun in your face is pretty dumb.”

  5. JR: i don’t agree with that statement. it could be the working of hormones, but i’ve experienced a few things, including sitting in a bar talkin’ bout love when, after a short fight,, the guy-thrown-out returned with a gun and started shooting from the door. i sat there w/out a clue why everyone else, including my partner, ducked to the ground. the man went, police came and 1 person turned out to be dead. none of this hit me till an hour later, when i was having a cup of tea at home. and i have another experience at which fear only came after the thing-to-fear was long gone. i don’t think it’s that unusual. could be adrenalin, mild shock or whatever.

  7. I tried the exact same thing when my kids just tried to rob me of another days pay for their weekend pleasures. It didn’t work. My wallet is $50. bucks lighter. Where’s Bono when you need him.

  9. Does that story sound like total crap to anyone else? I don’t believe a word of it. He tells a mugger to “F off” and the guy does just that? He shoots the gun off in the other direction? It’s not good to lie like that Bono!

  11. This story is WRONG!

The true story is Bono, Edge, their wives were stepping off the set of “Gangs of New York” to go out for dinner and they saw a guy with a gun a few meters down an alley. They didn’t even stop or blink an eye, they kept walking thinking the guy was a leftover extra from the movie set! It was only afterwards did they realise the guy and his gun were real.

The Mirror are a bunch of idiots.
