Pleasant Frivolity

To counter all this talk of war and the rock canon and blah blah blah, here are some curious web objects which we can’t quite account for. Bono Sports pet cologne, for example. U2log can provide no testimonial as to whether or not it contains that distinctive leather ‘n’ righteousness scent, since we’re frankly too sensible (and too cheap) to order a bottle. And, uh, we have no idea whatsoever what this is, but it’s kept at least two U2log editors busy for an hour or more hunting down the curious things “the band members” have to say… we particularly recommend “Rally Round.” (Thanks to U2log.com staffer ~E for dredging these up.)

  1. That Rally Round thing is hysterical – poor Larry and Adam! The funniest random U2 thing I ever saw was from a financial magazine of my husband’s. Some company was selling these cute little stuffed animals and the ad said at 16 inches, these cuties are bigger than Bono (but not his ego).

  3. “Ummmmm……slow U2 news day guys? What on earth IS this??”

U2log.com is not a news site. It’s been looking like one for a while, but we are a weblog and we blog links to U2 related stuff on the web and provide some personal commentary. Due to time restraints and some of our staff being on extended walkabouts, we’ve not been able to stick to our mission.

We started out blogging U2’s studio cam, we’ve done a lot of disinfo and spoofs and we’ve tried to be irreverant. As editor in chief of this site I regret that we’ve lost our original vibe and I want it back.

There are enough U2 fan and newssites out there – U2log.com should be the one where you can go for something different.

  5. You’re right Vonb! How I regret those “Promo Bono” days… 🙂
But each of you at U2log does a great job and that’s why this site is unique in my opinion…

  9. Caroline,

You and the crew have done a wonderful job on this site. This is the first place I go to because I know it will be funny and outragious. I love reading other people’s quips. I leave this site with a smile on my face everytime!

  11. U2log.com has changed, but y’all still do a great job. Best U2 site on the internet IMO. I guess when that news site closed (youtwo.net), y’all tried to pick up the mantle a bit and that took away some of the “fun”. Well, that and all the Iraq stuff that we U2 fans are interested in discussing. Anyway, just want to send along my highest compliments to your site, y’all rock! Now about that perfume, do you think it would smell OK on humans? Do you think my wife would be offended if I bought some for her?
