Bono & J-Lo Duet

Is this an early April Fool’s joke? Jennifer Lopez, J-Lo, Jenny — whatever she calls herself these days — has recorded a duet with Bono that might or might not be released.

  5. “I’m still – I’m still – I’m still…..Bono from the Block.” God help us. Lord, I know you’re busy hearing prayers about more pressing matters (war, mystery illness in Asia) but please hear this one…please? Ok, here goes: No Bono/J-Lo duet. Ok? Thanks.

  9. This is truly tragic. And it’s so bizarre when compared with all the talking he’s been doing about the “mad guitar sounds” of the new record and about the influence of The Ramones and The Clash on U2. Would those bands duet with J. Lo?

  11. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE say it’s by Murder Inc. and Bono’s the hook girl. “We be, straight thuggin 4-EEEVVVAAAHHH… when the night is too empty and the stars have lost their way” (etc. etc. etc.)

  13. Open mind? Even if I thought I did, it would close instantly if this is true. Bono probably had a couple pints at a party and sang a few lines of improv with her. Her tiny little brain transfered that to a studio recording with 3 verses and a chorus!!
Debaser, you may lose respect for Bono if it’s true…I would just put it on a small rack of items that bugged me…I don’t mean to bug ya’!!
    1. Wycleff
    2. Mullit
    3. Only getting in the heart on Elev tour once…oh wait that’s not his fault.

Speaking of duets…If you haven’t listened in a while to “In a Lifetime” the song he did with Clannad…Break it out..POWERFUL!!
“Save your body, soul, one day he diasapears, since your gone, hold, hold me tight, don’t lie in the storm”

  15. Nothing can be as bad as the collabs with Wyclef. Not even J-Lo. Could even be an interesting dynamic, the latter one. Prefer to see her act, though.

  17. Oh dear, and I thought the collaboration with Britney and Christina, and those boybands was awful… what’s next? A duet with Henry Rollins?

  19. a duet wouldnt be that bad with christina, because she has a voice, but i think i would throw up if bono ever duets with britney. bono would seriously demote himself if the duet with jlo is released. *shudder*

  21. Hey, if Bono wants to croon with J-Lo, let the guy have his fun.
If you don’t like it; don’t buy it.
I personally have never been very disappointed by any choice of sound/collaboration/direction U2 or Bono ever made. The stuff I didn’t like I didn’t buy (well, I DID buy it but never really play it anymore), the stuff I did like I still play all the time…

  23. Alright I would like to go on record right now to say that I think that Bono looked his HOTTEST (and I won’t normally admit to finding him hot) in the Unforgettable Fire video — and he happened to have like the mother of all mullets in that video. I normally do fear the mullet, but I thought it looked great on him (and him alone — no one else should have ever had that haircut ever – LOL!) ~ Patty

  25. What was I said a few months ago on this very forum when Bono comdemned silly pop acts in favor of rock bands? Something along the line of “Coming from the guy who is all over Destiny’s Child, mugging for photos with Kylie and flirting with JLO at awards shows. Yeah, he hates silly pop… unless it’s a hot chick.” I remember catching a whole lot of flack for that one. I guess I was right. I wouldn’t crow about it had the lot of you not blasted me for it. But you did, so I will. Bono must have thought he was getting some. This guy has become the ultimate phony. I already hate the shmuck (even though I’m a huge U2 fan.)so this news doesn’t hurt me. I’m happy to watch as he slowly exposes his pompous phony ass to the world.

  27. Bono is the worst kind of liberal… the one who thinks that HE is exempt from all rules. This is a guy who will preach to ANYone who will listen.. Hell, he tried preaching to the pope. Yet, he isn’t about selling out for a piece of fat ass that a brother has already ravaged countless times. Shameless.

  29. J-Lo, hmmm. No musical talent whatsoever. Average acting talent that resulted in one or two good films and a lot of crappy chickflicks. What could it possibly be that makes Bono want to record a duet with her? I wonder… Oh, I know! Must be for charity!

  31. I really really hope that the JLo duet will never be released. I dont like this kind of involvement in the biz. That would be too much. I didnt like the Whats going on cover with those tiny superstars either. Bono should separate himself from those people. What about a duet with Michael Stipe, instead?

  33. Wasn’t it Bono that once said “We started this band (U2) because there was too much wallpaper music around”??? Now a duet with the queen of wallpaper music? Jeez, if it’s true, he’s sure changed his tune, so to speak. Where are the rebels that I once knew?

  35. Personally, I was disappointed with “New Day,” but at least a Bono/Wyclef collaboration wasn’t a terrible idea on paper: “Gone ‘Til November” demonstrated that Wyclef Jean could indeed make beautiful music, it just didn’t happen with “New Day.” (Not even close, really.) But Jennifer Lopez? It’s not at all clear that she has enough talent to justify even an attempt at a duet. Let us hope that this duet, “Electrical Storm,” and “Hands” have been experiments and not an indication of the band’s new direction; let us hope the new album knocks us on our asses. Until then, seek out “The London Version” of “What’s Going On,” a duet between Bono and Chris Martin. It is what a duet SHOULD sound like.

  37. As much as I hope you’re right Achtung Bubba, Bono’s talk about the album being punk-rock sounding just seems hollow at this point.

  39. Hey – who knows – maybe rather than JLo’s existence on a Bono recording dragging it down, perhaps Bonoo’s existence on a JLo record will bring it some class.

  41. I find this tendency of people to focus on a singer’s body when they don’t like her music quite disturbing. Can we please talk about people here without calling them fat, or insinuating incest?

Unless they’re The Corrs, of course, feel free to call Andrea a panda.

  43. Jeez people, do you believe everything you read on the net? I too hate the idea of a duet like this, but I’ll keep my howling until it is an officially confirmed fact. I can’t help thinking that some of you just can’t wait for Bono to disappoint you.

  45. Oh no…maybe it’s time for U2 to retire. Never thought I’d say that but if this true,it’s over. Might as well start putting U2 songs in car commercials. Then again, who knows, maybe Bono was just drunk and it seemed like a good idea. It can’t be worse than “what’s going on.”

  47. its not logic, duets with j-lo are always her singing and some rapper rapping… so unless its a ballad or something like that, which could work, it won’t be a obvious j-lo song

  49. oh that’s terrible news… i had considered Bono a much serious person, and he was… but now… i don’t know. First losing an Oscar by Eminem and now this… what are we gonna hear next?

Well, maybe one more thing: I wish J. Ho would just take that 500 million karat lime green fuchsia diamond of hers and just slit my throat with it. Quick and easy…..
