A new U2 DVD titled “An Unforgettable Journey” is set to be released on April 21 — but don’t get too excited about it. It’s an unofficial release produced by a questionable company that calls itself Chrome Dreams. The DVD is being promoted as “an uncensored look at a truly extraordinary band.” (Source: xFM)

In the March 25, 2003 Article “Miss Sarajevo Is Da Bomb”
the editors of U2 Log expressed there grievances about
the censoring of U2 on MTV. I wrote several comments about my
views on censorship under the name “Hard Truth”. I never thought
the ideas that I expressed would fall under the ax of censorship but alas they have. Much to my surprise the editors of this web sight
made it so that I no longer can post my thoughts about U2,censorship
or anything else for that matter. I find this to be very ironic that the same people that complain about censorship would practice it. I am fully aware of the fact that this is there sight and that they can do whatever they want. So until next time(from a undisclosed location)this is Hard Truth saying…watch what you say
they are listening. U2 forever!!!

I worked at a music shop for awhile and every time one of these “unnofficial” things came out about anyone (especially Tupac Shakur), some poor shmoe would buy it, thinging they had missed when it came out and ALWAYS bring it back, and ALWAYS say, “There’s no music on this peice of shit!!!” (This usually led to me politely as I could pointing out the huge ass sticker on the box that read, “This program contains NO music”)… Anyway, I’m sure that’s all this is, but with U2, you can still be entertained by interveiws and documentary stuff, I would imagine… I guess my point is, don’t expect it to have any music, but quite possibly some interveiws you haven’t seen…

This is just going to get yanked by the U2log editors, and it should, because it’s their house and we’re guests and I’m off topic, as they’ve pointed out, but I got to say this just for mr. Hard Truth over there. I saw one of your posts before it got taken offline, and it was a list of “bad metaphors” that was nothing better than an annoying forwarded email and had no place here. That’s hardly “ideas” you expressed. Your views on U2 are appropriate here, but please leave the extraneous information elsewhere. You blew your chance to be welcome here. The editors gave you plenty of chances. I hope your behavior doesn’t discourage the good folks of U2log and make them consider shutting down the forum system for good, but I wouldn’t blame them if it did. Whew. Sorry, Caroline et al… this won’t happen again from me. 🙂

Thanks, Lucy, for verifying why we banned mr or mrs hard truth. He posted an acre of off topic nonsense with blatant disregard of our house rules.
“Censoring” is what government bodies do. We just edit.
Basically, the poster formerly known as ‘hard truth’ is confusing the notion of “freedom of speech” with “freedom of distribution”.
You are entitled to hold any opinion you want, but there’s no automatic right to full and unedited distribution through private channels, such as this website.
Freedom of speech means you will not be prosecuted, tortured, imprisoned for your opinions. It does not mean that everything you say will be broadcast verbatim.
Freedom of speech means you can start your own weblog and create your own world and tell your own stories on it. It’s a great notion.
