Today Bono addressed participants at the World Editors Forum in Dublin, where he thanked journalists and editors for helping him to highlight the AIDS emergency in Africa and commented on the media coverage he has received as a rock star over the years.
Regarding a tabloid story titled “Bono’s Boozy Night with Frank Sinatra,” Bono admitted, “Sadly, that was true.”
The U2 frontman confessed that his only problem with the media was when a tabloid published a photo of his butt. “It was an appalling invasion of my privacy,” he said. “I objected to the wide-angle lens, which I felt gave the wrong impression.”

He got bombed with Sinatra, what, ten years ago, and they bring it up at this thing? And the press wonder why people have such contempt for what they do, especially in light of what they are supposed to be doing! Amazing. But boy, can Our Bon handle himself or what? “Wide-angle lens” indeed!
