  1. I did not know that the verses of one of Mr. Bono’s old songs is quoting Isaiah 40:31…until I read it for myself many years later in the Bible. He really should give credit where credit is due (1 Corinthians 8:5,6).

  3. It’s surprising that you did not know that the verses of one of “Mr.Bono”‘s songs were a direct quote from the Bible. (Wow,can you imagine one of Bono’s lyrics actually being influenced by the Bible!?) As to his “giving credit where credit is due”, I guess we should expect the same from Milton and Shakespeare and Joyce and Becket and even the Simpsons, so that every time the Bible is invoked, there should be a footnote.

  5. Sorry to continue, but having reacted to your original comment without thinking of its relation to the context, the question now is, how does this relate to the context?? How on earth does this story about the “peppy globe trotter” relate to your issue of Bono borrowing verses from the Bible without credit? Just wondering.

  7. Bono gives credit to the Bible by the way he lives his life. If I only had a nickel for the number of times I’ve heard thoroughly despicable people quote the Bible chapter and verse, with citation, to promote their nasty and mean-spirited ways, I would be the one buying the $14 million pied a terre on the Upper West Side. Of course, I have no idea exactly how this discussion was prompted by the article; I’ve had it up to here with required registration for every hotlink on the Internet, and the Lord assured me that my privacy doesn’t belong to Caesar….
