Have Irish-Architecture.com uncovered the ‘original’ winner of the U2 Landmark Tower competition?
On September 4 it became known that the jury of the competition was unable to identify the origin of some of the leading contenders, including the one they picked as a winner.
PriceWaterhouseCoopers were called in to find out who they were. Entrants were requested to submit digital versions of their designs to help match drawings with names. But this did not resolve the problem as no entry form could be found for the ‘winning’ entry.
On October 1st, Irish-architecture.com sent a request to its mailinglist and the readers of affiliated websites for entries to the U2 Landmark Tower competition, in particularly does that had not been contacted by the organisers, or PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
A design by 3W Architects from London seems to correspond with the description of the original winners. 3W claim they did send in their entry form “hand-delivered” and that they have a signed receipt for it.
