U2 are reportedly adamant about performing in Belfast City on the band’s next tour. An “extremely well-placed source” told the Belfast News Letter that the band wish to perform at Odyssey Arena to make up for all the times they were unable to schedule a tour visit to the city. The source also told the paper that Bono believes the new album is “the closest they have ever got to making the perfect album” and that he is “desperate” to tour again.

PERFECT ALBUM!! bono has made many statements over the past 15 years…about what the next album would be, however he has never made a statement like the perfect album.
Psyched!
JT was the closest imho to the perfect album.
JT, ATYCLB, AB, and now…solar?!!
Peace…

I will see it when I believe it, a 10 thousand seater areana, its state of the art 3 year old but if they are going for big stadiums this definetly isn’t. We will see!!!!
JB.

Man, Bono really must think this new stuff is great, he’s never said that about anything else they’ve done… COME ON 2004!!!

well we know a few things for sure:
They never will make the same mistake as with the Pop album. This one will be released when the band believes it’s finished.
And start touring, they will be well prepared. (like it was with the Elevation tour)
But big stadiums all over?
With pop the band had some bad experiences. Not every stadium was a sold out, resulting in a lost of count instead of earning money.
Think they will be more carefull now, before they go “big” again.

the excitement that i have for this album is so amazing it isn’t even funny, seriously, chris thomas returning to his heavy guitar roots, u2 recording their perfect album, “with the sound of war and the depth of achtung baby” aaaaaaaahhhh! I CAN’T WAIT, HURRY UP BOYS AND AT LEAST RELEASE A SOUND CLIP!!!!!!!!!!

Hell yeah!!! Bring on the rock music! I dont want it to sound like Gone, but I wouldnt mind some rockers like that. Pop was full of fucking mad rock tunes. ATYCLB also, but you know what I mean. Not only in sound but spirit. Amen!

This would be interesting to compare… how much would U2 profit from a Popmart (CostMart) ticket and a Elevetation (of prices) ticket.
Why interesting? they are moving out from arenas back to stadiums, which could make you think “larger offer of tickets for an specific demand…lower prices”. But then the “Bigger than Popmart” thing doesn’t ring quite well in my ears.
Due to the supposed magnitude of the show, you can infer that the concerts coverage isn’t going to be as broad as the small and easy-to-pack-&-go Elevation show. All this translates into loads of fans having to raise their expenses to watch a U2 show, not only because of a higher ticket price, but also as having to invest into transportation… this sucks

u2s most succesful tour (on a profit basis) is the elevation tour. It is actually the 3rd highest grossing tour ever.

Phht.. remember that the Elevation Tour didn’t even get to some places (Australia, New Zealand, South America, South Africa, Japan… and why don’t U2 play Singapore ? I remember Macphisto thinks its a lovely exotic place 😛 hehe). I don’t care how much their tickets cost, I’ve already started saving my $$’s so that I can see them in 3 cities when they’re here. A fan since *just* after popmart left Australia in ’98, and U2 haven’t been back in 5 years, but all this tour talk is making me 😀 But… if they miss Australia again this time… Bono, Larry & Edge are going to wake up with horse heads in their bed, and Adam is going to wake up ‘memberless’ !! lol 😛 – sorry about that rather self-centred post 😛

hey I understand… U2 didn’t come to my hometown, Indianapolis, from 1988-2001. Elevation was the first time they graced our midwest stage in over a decade! Bono kept saying, “thanks for waiting,” and I believed him. I hope the band finds its way down under for you!

I’m with Jessica, go the horse heads. Seriously though, it’s pretty abysmal when a “world tour” does even cross the equator!

I will be taking all contributions and donations for the next world tour at the following address. rock_martyr@yahoo.com. I hope to catch them on every stop in every country. Thanks for allowing the first real U2 fan to be able to accomplish such madness. Without your support it would not be possible. Bless you all. Start writing those checks! hahaha.
