Liberals Not Excited About Bono

Some members of the Liberal party aren’t that impressed that Bono’s coming to town this weekend. At least he’ll be a bit more entertaining than outgoing PM Jean Chretien’s entertainment – Paul Anka.

Daniel Lanois will also take to the stage, increasing the odds that Bono may sing as well as be a speaker

  1. It seems people have the wrong idea about Bono’s appearance at the convention. He is attending it as a representative of DATA, there to speak to an audience on the topic of the African crisis. He is not appearing as a celebrity endorsing a politican. Admittedly, Bono seems to like Paul Martin and that may have contributed to his agreeing to appear; however, his purpose is clearly to address a huge Canadian audience about Africa — something he has not yet done.

  5. I’d take that bet unless you count cussing and repeating old one-liners (like…”standing around with watering cans”, or the “edge is doing brilliant things with the guitar”)as being an idiot. Oh yeah, his suit probably won’t fit right and he may have some chest hair showing, but I don’t think he’ll look like an idiot. I mean, he’s gonna be in _canada_ 😉
