Shining Like Stars

Continuous play on UK radio stations has caused LMC vs U2 “Take Me to the Clouds Above” (which samples “With or Without You”) to go to number one on the charts in the country. But not every radio station has embraced the track. Popular London station XFM has chosen to champion a cover of “With or Without You” by a youth choir instead. Scala is a 60-member choir from Aarschot, Belgium, who have been receiving international attention for its covers of songs by popular artists like Nirvana, Radiohead, and Garbage. Scala’s cover of the U2 song appears on “Scala on the Rocks–Dream On,” which is available for purchase at Proxis.be. An audioclip of the kiddies singing “With or Without You” can be heard at MCM.net.

  3. U2 are past their best. They are old. They are not as relevant anymore as they once was. People – move on. Learn to like some new music. Don’t pin your hopes on the new U2 album being brilliant – you will only be hurt. U2 have made mistakes in the past and they will continue to do so.

  5. “Davo”: At this point, the only one sounding old is you. You can’t even be bothered coming up with a fresh comment from the last entry. You just quote your own lovely self, and it was (were?) as tiresome as the first time: “People, move on, nothing to see here.” The rest of us will not move on, but will wait and see, and brave the “hurt” (!) and once again be pleased with the result. U2’s “mistakes” are worth the wait.

  7. Dear Diary,

Today I went to a U2 fan log and made some really stupid remarks about the band just to try and upset people. It was really cool. Tomorrow, I’m going to try again to lick an electric fan without cutting my tongue. Heh. Wow.

  11. If you’re so tired of U2, why are you hanging around at U2log?
Anyway, you’re entitled to your own opinion, but that doesn’t mean that other ppl (especially U2 fans…) agree with you.
So, to be on-topique again, I didn’t hear the versions of wowy. It’s probably not on Dutch radio 🙁

  13. First: U2 is not old. Bono is what, 43 years old? They are middle-aged.
Second: Why cant old people make music? Johnny Cash has made his most brilliant work in the recent years. We live in such a youth fixed world when it comes to music, and i hope u2 will continue til they cant stand up.

  17. Habib thats a very cool idea! as it looks now, Oasis are gonna release their new album before U2. That sucks, because they have then released 3 albums at the time u2 has released 1.

  19. from popbitch: Rumours from a South-East recording studio
suggest U2 might be about to call it a day.
